I dont know what im doing wrong but I just got my shipment of capellas in.

I have VG and PG Nic Bases, Pure PG and VG.
TPA Coffee,DK tobacco,and menthol.
Capellas French Vanilla, sweet strawberry, double chocolate, lemon-lime, root beer, and caramel.
I've tried following recipe guidelines with juice-me-up and even creating a few different mixtures myself. I was doing okay (just okay) until today. Ive mixed horrible creation after another. Its really discouraging. (I can never taste coffee from this at any mixture and am in the process of making my own coffee) Ive used the dk tobacco at very low percentages due to it being really REALLY strong. I mix the same with menthol because its also overpowering. Im just at a loss with the new capella flavorings and what im suppose to mix them at. Ive wasted over 30ml's trying to get this off its feet.

Can someone give me ideas with what i have to make something i can actually enjoy rather than just stomach? I plan to order more flavors but only after i can prove that it isnt a money sink to continue to try to DIY.

Thank you for any responses. I really would appriciate any help or advice given.

Are you making tobacco juices . Its probably your tobacco's . You should be testing each flavor by itself before mixing anything . 3ml should be the biggest bottles you should be making right now until you learn the flavor .

put 20 drops of pg in a bottle and one drop of flavoring .Thats 5% . vape 2 drops and see . Then add another drop of flavoring.Thats 10% .Vape it and see . Keep on going until you find where you like it . DO that for each flavor . You cant just go mixing stuff up and think its gonna be good when you start . It takes time to learn the flavor . Dont add a tobacco to the flavor .Not yet at least . You gotta be patient and do your testing first with small amount . 3ml batches or less until you know how the flavor works . Coffees and tobacco's are the two hardest flavorings to work with

DO NOT USE TPA COFFEEs as well . They are notorious for being gag worthy from what i read here .I havent came across one person that could work with them .

Start off with the sweet strawberry because that one is so good it will raise your spirits right back up .lol

I will destroy... i mean get rid of my tpa coffee immediately. I have been sampling my flavors alone. The TPA DK tobacco doesnt seem to taste GOOD on its own (3-5%). Its only tolerable. The coffee is weak (1%) then as i go up there seems to be no happy medium (up to20%). The menthol is doing its job fine at 1-3% lol. 5% if i need to clear myself up. Sweet strawberry lives up to your hype.(5-15%) Lemon Lime is kinda candyish and massively sweet. 5-15%. Root beer is strong and quiet tasty. (3-10%). The caramel is soooooo sweet. Mixer only imo. 5-15%. Same goes for the french vanillla. 3-10%. I cant get the chocolate flavor im trying for out of the chocolate. It goes from chocolate-ish to nasty. 5-15% Tried up to 20 but BLEH. Mixer only if i want hints of chocolate. I tested them all and tried a couple different combos to see if i could make winners. Here are a few ive tried and nearly killed myself with.

RY4ish...

3% TPA DK TOBACCO
4% Caramel
1%vanilla
1%double chocolate.
(I subbed in 1% of each after tasting.)
Never got to GOOD. Was okay at first but became nausiating after a few hits. Had to destroy.

Menthol Strawberry.

2% menthol
10% strawberry.

VERY TASTY but not very satisfying after a while.

A&W?
5% Root Beer
2% french vanilla.

Was great for the first 2-3 hits. Then i tasted the overpowering sweetness of the vanilla... Needs more rootbeer.

Strawberry Lemonaide

5% sweet strawberry
10% lemon lime
1% vineager.
(added the vineager as an attempt to make it more tart and less sweet....didnt work.)

Coffee and anything pretty much ended in failure.

I mostly made 5ml batches except when i tested the taste which i made in 3mls. I think my problem may reside in not liking the tobacco MEAT im using. No amount of SEASONING will change that. (i wish i could)

ANY suggestions on a good non-perfume tobacco base to get? TA isnt up my alley as i dont want to add stuff that was in analogs to my juices. Kinda defeats the purpose of getting away from them a little.

Your thoughts on the capellas are just how i feel except for the chocolate . What are you trying to acheive in that one ? Iv also noticed chocolates need about a week of steeping for the thickness and moistness to roll in . Usually the first couple day are a little bitter and dry like a cocoa powder . That may be what you are refering too . I cant wait to try the milk choco toffee i have coming . I like milk choco in general better than heavy chocolates . You may want to try lemon juice to spuce up the tartness on the SL. I find its a little better than vinegar . Vinegar for me has been making things sweet .

Finally someone understands my Meat/seasoning analogy .lol . I should also add that when adding the seasoning to the meat its best if they marinate for a couple days . I told one person about the meat seasoning and they told me they dont really like bacon flavoring lol .

Id try out FA's tobacco's .Every tobacco thread seems to say good things about theres . Of course they are still artificial and it would always taste better to extract you own . FA just released Black fire tobacco which got a good review .

Btw on your RY4 id replace the caramel with EM . That caramel is a bakery type caramel and yes best for mixing . EM or HC caramel is what true RY4 to me is .

Chocolates definitely get better and stronger after a day or so. One way to get rid of the dry taste is to add some Marshmallow. A small amount won't change the taste but will add a nice moistness to the vape. Awhile back I started a thread with my chocolate tips. I wonder if I can find it.

Definately leave us some feedback on the FA Black Fire. I really didn't like any of their tobacco's at all but thats because I like house extracted juice from real tobacco not the perfumey or grassy tobacco imitating junk. We bought like ten of their tobaccos and kept 2. I didn't even bother with tobacco absolut because I heard about the smell. Many people do like them though and many vendors use Flavour Art for their juices. I do wish you good luck and keep us posted.

Keep in mind that flavors need to develop after mixing. Some flavors will develop quickly in a hot water bath but others will take days to fully develop. Some up to several weeks. Tobacco and coffee tend to take alot of time.

This. My all-day vape is a coffee I extract myself. I've found it needs to steep for at least three days and starts getting really nice after a week to ten days.

I rotate two 50ml bottles for this - when I empty one I make another one. That way I've got one that's ready to go and one steeping ;)

My homemade coffee flavor kicks the crap out of that tpa coffee i had. I added some directly to my tpa dk tobacco and it took care of most of the nasty perfume taste that corrupted my other attempts.

The fact that that tpa stuff is even called coffee is a crime imo....I'm with ya ;)
Try a few blends, and even tea if you like it (bet a good black tea would be great w/tobacco!)...the versatility of extractions and available flavor variations...endless! :)

@zfb - When I started DIY I had a difficult time getting a juice to "shine". They all seemed flat to me and nothing really popped. I struggled with why mine were not as good as the "store bought" stuff. I had a few favorite juices form Vendors and tried to make a few copies. Again same thing mine seemed flat. Then I put a dab of the store bought on my finger and tasted it. Each one of my favorites had a "sweetness" to it. I went and placed and order for two flavors- Cotton candy (Ethyl Malto in PG) and Sweetener (Sucralose in PG). Adding 1% sweetener to my DIY juices was the trick. I use the EM for tobacco based juices and the sweetener flavor for bakery and fruit types. I have not bought a premade juice in almost a year.

Taste is of course subjective and differs by by individual. Some people (like me) need a some sweetness for flavors to come through. It may or may not work for you. I only responded since I did not see any sweetener in your mixes and what you described sounded like the same problem I had when starting. Hope you find your masterpiece juice soon and happy vapes
