Hi people,

Hardware:
igo-w
mvp v2

So I have tried single coil build reading 2.4/2.6 tried all watt and volt settings, I got very little vapor and really harsh throat hit. I tried dual coil build reading 1.4 and same as with the single coil. I'm confused and any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

How are you positioning your coil relative to your airhole?

Try to position the airhole in the topcap directly inline with your coil both horizontally and vertically. Having the airhole misaligned with the coil will greatly effect both throat hit and vapor. Many find they like to slightly (or greatly) increase the size of the airhole but be careful as going too large to fast could lead to it being super airy and only good for lung hits.

Also, i assume your top cap is only drilled with 1 airhole? If so you're likely better off running a single coil and following the tips above, if you desire to run duals you should drill an appropriately (as to align with the other coil) placed second hole on the top cap.

Those coils look pretty good and uniform, all touching..

I would pull your wick and heat up your coils they should go orange from th centre out if your coil is touching the post use something to gently pry it away slightly.. You may have to much wick in there as well

You could also try lifting the coil with a small screwdriver and put a fluffy bedding of cotton underneath than push coils down till there 1/3 into the bedding

Works very well for me

What gauge wire are you using? It seems like you have a hot spot or leg is one of the leads heating turning orange when firing or do you have one spot that is bright when firing than others?

Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk

I tried firing without the wicks and it took until the 10 second cutoff to see the coils go orange.

I'm using 28 kanthal and 2mm silica wick

the coils do heat from the middle but it takes about 8-10 seconds to even show orange. I didn't have a good torch so the coils are actually not touching. I made sure the coils are not touching the posts and as level as possible. I did use 2 wicks each both folded.

JHf, I think your coils are too big.

^this. i think 10 seconds for your coils to glow is a bit long.

are you using something stiff (like a screwdriver:D) to wrap your coils? i'd try using a drill bit and then see if youre able to thread the wick through. or use a toothpick or really small (1/16) drill bit coupled with your silica while wrapping your coil. and i second what twosm0kes said. my igo-w is drilled out with two 5/64 airholes, off-centered, to hit my coils. then again, i like a sort of airy vape. so start small and if its not enough, go bigger.

....is it bad that the last statement i made had me thinking: "thats what she said" to myself?

Thanks guys.....I figured out the the wire gauge IS too big....just waiting for 32 gauge from the slow boat.....

I think your wire GAUGE is too big, meaning the WIRE is too SMALL. Higher (#) gauge = smaller diameter wire.

Try a lower gauge (bigger wire) with a smaller coil diameter. What you've got is a LOT of wire, that takes a LONG time to heat up. My IGO-W doesn't hit well with dual coils until I get down to the 0.6 ohm range, or below. Above that, it takes far too long to heat up.

I think ya got that backwards ;)

The OP's problem is too much wire, so he needs to go to a higher guage, thinner wire. 32ga would probably work well!

I had to drill bigger air holes in mine. I just picked it up today and it had two very very small holes on either side of the cap. I drilled them bigger and it works waaaaaaaaaaay better. I'm only running single coil on it right now but i would suggest drilling bigger holes. Before drilling the vapor was non existent and the throat hit was HARSH.

This.

Actually, his problem is too many wraps and too large of diameter coils all together... He needs to be wrapping 1/16" - 5/64" max. sized coils w/ only 8-10 wraps per coil...

Stick with a single coil until you can get some 32 awg. A 1.2 ohm single coil should vape nicely (with a drilled out air hole).

I'm vaping sublimely at around .43 OHm on a mechanical.

1. I had both holes drilled wider.
2. I always make sure the holes are dead on in the middle
3. I have a slug build. That means that twice the amount of wicking is used and the excess is tucked underneath. Ideal for the Igo-W which has a small well at the bottom. This wicks the liquid up from the small well on the bottom of the Igo-W and keeps the wick very saturated. Also since the wicking is covering the bottom part of the coils this is allowing more surface to be covered in wicking.
4. I'm using EkoWool which I suspect absorbs more of the heat then Cotton or Silica.
5. I'm using Flat Wire Kanthal .8

I'm not sure which is making this build vape so fine or if it's just a combination of all the factors.
