I am on a T3 coil rebuilding mission tonight. I have:

1) A spool of 28g kanthal
2) 5/64 drill bit
3) Mesh, Japanese cotton, cotton yarn, and silica wick
4) Multimeter

I've rebuilt these coils before, but shoddy ones at best. Can someone tell me if what I have is what I need and also what wicking material is best? I know I read all the time here that the organic japanese cotton is great, but it seems like it will be difficult to thread through this coil. Any tips, suggestions, hints would be greatly appreciated. :)

The 28 is too big and too low a resistance to fit well in the base, so 30 or 32 is the way to go. I prefer 30, as it's a bit easier to handle. 7 wraps for around a 1.8 Ω, and I wrap on a 5/64 "precision" screwdriver. (Original coils are 2 mm, and that's essentially what 5/64 is.)

I'll often use 2 mm silica for the wick so I can dry burn a few times before needing to recoil. And use 1 full strand of the P&C yarn for flavor wicks.
