PART 1

I have a 2 amp AC to USB adapter that I bought specifically for a 5v manual passthrough.

I also have a few AC to USB adapters that came with Riva 510 kits, that say:

Travel Charger
Input: AC 100-250V 50/60Hz
Output: DC5.0V±0.5V
DC500mA

Are these 1 amp?

I bought these two items below - can someone tell me which adapter I have to use for each, or if it matters:

1. Joye 510 manual batteries, 180 mAh I think. I also bought a USB cord for them, but not a AC to USB adapter. I know that I cannot use the USB cord that came with the Riva 510 with these (right?).

2. Ego manual passthrough battery (comes with a USB cord)

PART 2

I don't have a USB car charger, but I have a good quality power inverter with a single outlet. Is this okay to charge various batteries or use with the Ego passthrough battery?

PART 3

Is it a bad idea to use the 650 mAh Ego passthrough battery to vape with while it's charging on a desktop computer?

Sorry for being so dumb. I am trying to get myself set up for as many different situations as I can think of. I promise not to ask about solar chargers (I do have one, never have used it).

Thanks CBB, but I am seriously too ignorant on electrical stuff to understand most of what you wrote, so tell me if this is right:

1. I shouldn't use either of those USB to AC adapters with the slim batteries.
2. I could use the 1/2 amp with the Ego Passthrough, or I could use it on my computer.

The power inverter plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car and it has an AC plug. I was wondering if I could safely plug the USB to AC adapters in it, and also, could I use the Ego Passthrough in it plugged in.

500ma is 1/2 an amp. 1000mA would be an amp

You just need at LEAST 500mA (1/2) to charge a battery. A battery charger will only use what it needs to charge the battery it was designed for.

I use 2amp 4-port Rosewill USB to AC to charge 4 batteries or batteries and PCC cases at once
Newegg.com - Rosewill 2 Amp 4 Port USB International Traveling Wall Charger RUC-6181 for iPhone/iPod/iPad/MP3

Personally I would use a PT on its own USB to AC (1amp or 2amp - whatever it needs) and charge batteries on a separate one. I know with the Rosewill I have seen the battery cables need to re-decide the charged/charging state of attached batteries when a new battery is added to it. I would hate to think how much the supply might fluctuate when using a PT. I want my batteries to have a stable charging supply.

You cannot charge slim 510's with the Riva fast charger. I labeled my Riva charger cable to make sure I don't stick a slim 510 battery in it. It could damage the battery.

On the car stuff, I do not know.

Thanks dormouse!

I am starting to get it.. I hope.. sounds like I am worrying about the adapter plugs and I don't really need to, I could use the 2 amp one for all equipment that requires that AND lower?

I am going to label my cables right away, I've read your warnings to others and made a note on my desk for when it arrives. That device you have is cool, I think that will be my next purchase.

Now, I have to find out what an Ego Passthrough needs for amps.

{{Thank you again}} Sorry that I'm having trouble understanding this.

A DC to AC converter will drive an AC to DC transformer such as a Mains plug for a charger but it is a bit of overkill. You can pick up a car adapter for a few dollars at walmart.

Thanks, I will get one - I somehow thought I needed more power than the ones I've seen. Is there a special type to use with a passthrough?

okay maybe someone can help me here... i have a USB charger... and i have a wall wart adapter from my phone.. the ac adapter has a 5.1v, and .7A output.. i know the amps are safe but is the .1v over gonna hurt anything.. my understanding says it wont but I want to make sure before i do something that would damage my only charger...

Okay the above isnt really needed anymore as i found a 5v wall wart from my old phone, but i would still like to know for future reference even if not for myself for the other newbies who may run into the same question

There shouldn't be an issue using a higher capacity charger. mah output is what the adapter is capable of providing - not what it actually puts out... There should be harm in using a higher mah, because it the battery will only draw what it needs to charge. I use my kr808d1 bats on the vgo charger and have had no problems even though it is rated at 500mah (the original kr808d1 charger is 250mah). The battery is already a year old and still kicking.
