Hi and welcome to ECF :)

I believe you may be screwing it together too hard. Back it off a bit, so it makes contact when you hit the button, but there is still button movement when you let off. Let us know if that works.

When I do it to the point where its not firing, the threads are only like half screwed in and its really shaky

Here's a pic of my switch. Does it look the same as yours?

Its not letting me post pictures/links, but mine doesn't have that rubber looking ring. Its just a metal spring on top of the c clip and pin.

Yes, you need to get some more posts in before you can post pictures. But we found the problem.

The white ring is plastic which acts as an insulator for the switch. Without that the switch makes the circuit and turns the mod on when the spring makes contact with the battery.

Can I fix this? Do I need to buy a whole new switch or mod or?

I don't have the k100 but I do have an empire mod, (what the k10 was based off of), I have had that happen when I forgot to put the spring in after cleaning

I used my K100 for the better part of a year as my main vape tool and I think I might have taken the spring out for cleaning once in that time. I found it very dependable. How has your experience been with the Empire Nancy?

I love it, only bad thing is the 901 which is the connector type on the empire is getting harder and harder to find, which really sucks as I love my 901 attys

I bought it off a person. /:

That is not good! The person should have told you that part was missing.

I had a lok for a switch online but could not find one. You can buy the whole mod from Fasttech for about $20 but you'll wait a few weeks for it to get to you because they're in China. You could also have a look in the US, but it will likely be a bit more money.

do you have any electrical tape? if so wrap some around the top of the spring where the battery rests

I had the same thought Nancy, but if the spring ever gets through the tape it will autofire until it's unscrewed or the battery is empty (or vents).

slonzi, what battery do you have? Make and model please. If it's a safe battery it might be worth trying until you get a replacement.

You probably know this but just in case, you could always use a 901 to 510 adapter, but it does mean you'll have to go to 510 attys.

that is why I said electrical tape, it is thicker than standard tape and kinda plastic, designed for holding wires together

I hear ya and while I re-wired a whole kitchen and half the rest of the house a few years ago I would still be careful using electrical tape for this. A lot depends on how it's used and we won't be there.

If the OP will wrap it over and under the top of the spring working around it there shouldn't ever be anything that allows it to get through it

I tried duct tape and it worked ;o didn't have electrical
