I'm trying to make menthol juice for my brother. I've used menthol crystals he bought from ecigexpress. One problem -- the main thing -- is that the menthol seems to die out after a couple of days. Not sure what's going on with that.

Another is that when I attempt to dissolve them in VG, the crystals don't stay in suspension. I can get them to dissolve when the VG is warmed, but they precipitate out when it cools. This does not happen when it's mixed with the other components of the e liquid though.

Any ideas? Does menthol come in a liquid form? What do suppliers use for their menthol, that retains its strength over time?

Thanks for any help!

Try dissolving the menthol crystals in alcohol, like this:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/20590-menthol-drops-recipe-menthol-lovers.html

Then you get the benefit of the alcohol thinning the vg, as well as the menthol.

I agree you should really use the highest proof you can get of either vodka or if you can get it ever clear. I just mixed up a 1/2lb of menthol crystals and ever clear. That yielded right at 300ml of menthol concentrate. I found that even with the highest proof vodka I still see separation i.e. the water separated from the alcohol and the menthol. I do not see that in ever clear, it stays mixed and works perfect. I use about 5% menthol concentrate to the liquids I mix and it is about perfect. The taste does not diminish.

If you want I can send you 10ml of my menthol concentrate for you to test. Just PM me.

Hope this helps.
