Alright battery experts, I have a Dimitri mod clone on it's way and I have need of new batteries. I'm considering the the LG's HG2 for the 3000 mah run time and the combined amperage of 40 amps. Most of my builds are in the .2 ohm to .25 ohm rating, but I do have plans for builds that will probably drift closer to .14 ohms or there abouts. Should I be considering another set of batteries? Also thinking about picking up a pair for a regulated mod that I am currently running a pair of Sony VTC5s in that I've been unimpressed with run time at or above 80 watts.

Since you are going to be using them in a parallel box mod, the LG HG2 will be a good choice. You'll get the combined amps of 40 amp continuous and double the 3000mah in parallel mode.
I wouldn't build below 0.2 ohm on a mech with these or any battery on the market. 0.1 ohms draws 42 amps from the battery, which is over the 40 amps you'll have in your setup scenario.
Coil amp draw from Ohm's Law calculations for Mechanical Mods:

1.0 ohm = 4.2 amp draw
0.9 ohm = 4.6 amp draw
0.8 ohm = 5.2 amp draw
0.7 ohms = 6 amp draw
0.6 ohms = 7 amp draw
0.5 ohms = 8.4 amp draw
0.4 ohms = 10.5 amp draw
0.3 ohms = 14.0 amp draw
0.2 ohms = 21.0 amp draw
0.1 ohms = 42.0 amp draw
0.0 ohms = dead short = battery goes into thermal runaway

The reason that you've been unimpressed with the Sony VTC5 is because they are only a 20 amp continuous discharge rated battery. Running a battery at or over its intended limit (at or above 80 watts) will result in poor performance. Could very well be "fake" SonyVTC5's, too.
The Sony VTC4 are 20 amp batteries which can be safely pushed to 30 amps, and should probably perform better than the VTC5.

Thanks, I picked up a few sets of HG2's for my incoming Dimitri. The VTC5's that I have in there are definitely legit (illum supply), they just dont last that long. I knew there was an upper limit for watts in a regulated mod for the 20amp batteries, but I wasn't quite sure where it was. 80 was a push for..most of the time I'm sitting at 65-75..with somewhat better performance.

I also have a pair of vtc4 that I strictly use in a mech tube mod..those usually get pushed to .20-.24 ohms. Usually pretty happy with them, but wanted something longer lasting for the parallel mod.

I'll see how the LG's do, and if they aren't handling it at the .2 range then I'll pick up another set of vtc4s.
