I like the Samsung 30 ones (they are green). I think their high capacity is overrated, but I prefer longer run time at my wattage needs.

I made the mistake of buying "the best" Sony battery for one of my radiuses. It's actually not "the best" runtime for my wattages, it IS significantly shorter runtime than my other radius and I don't NEED that high capacity in the slightest (I vape around 5--12 watts) and once it's time to switch it out, I will be doing so with a brand new Samsung. Although from reading Mooch's stuff, really the LG brown batteries and the Samsung ones are fairly similar.

It took me a while to separate out the difference between longer runtime vs higher capacity, but you will sacrifice run time at your wattages if you try to go with the "highest rated CAPACITY" (if I am using the right word, I don't think I am) battery, versus not being so great for high wattage applications, but good for longer runtimes. It's enough to be noticeable and it also wasn't worth the COST. I won't be removing it as the more you do that with a radius, well, it's not designed to be switched. Once it starts dying off, though, I will not replace it with another high wattage battery, that's the opposite of what I want.

If you want to experience it yourself, feel free, but I really think you need to look more at mAh for your vaping needs....

Just My Opinion as always....

I need to buy some new 18650 batteries.
I currently use LG HG2 3000 maH batts.
I vape at 13W with a 1.5 ohm coil in a Provari P3.
So high power is not a concern.
I want long lasting.
Are there any higher capacity batteries suitable for my vaping ?
Iirc 3amp is as high as 18650s go atm. There will of course be ones that claim higher amperage but they likely won’t be telling the truth

Yeh, I don’t know if there is a higher than 3000 maH batt that I could buy.
Thanks.

Haven't heard of one. I vape at low power too, I picked the HG2 because it seemed to be the highest mah around, plus I've always used LG.

Sanyo ncr18650ga 3300mah & LG MJ1 3400mah might be good options for low watt/amp vaping.
(1a- 8ish a).

The problem being both will suffer voltage drop more noticeably as they are used & age.
Meaning you may not notice a significant increase in battery life / run time.

Just me, for 45ish w & under I don't think there is a 'better' cell than a Samsung 30Q.

Might be time to thoroughly clean all contact surfaces of your P3.
Battery contacts & all threading.

Yes, but from everything I've read I think they're pretty comparable to the LGs you have. I just can't deal with their color... Well, to be honest, my son told me to use those, and I have been (without incident until I decided a high capacity Sony was a good idea... it wasn't).

If you want to try something else, I think the Samsung 30s would be a good choice, I doubt you'll notice any HUGE differences....

At 13w your battery amp demand is somewhere between 3.7a - 4.3a.

The amount of run time difference between any of the quality 3000mah 15a - 20a cells even when new will be a matter of a few puffs at that amp draw.
The run time comparison between an old tired cell to a new fresh cell can make quite the difference.

Most importantly, only buy authentic name brand cells from reputable well known & recommended sources, trying to save a $ on batteries is a great way to end up with counterfeits.

Since Terry Koontz is served with 13W (within 5A maximum draw at all times), he will get slightly more runtime with the “3500s” (cough! They're more like 3200 - 3300mAh effective) versus the higher drain 3000s. This can be easily seen with the small fact sheets HKJ tester publishes because he lists actual cell energy output up to 5A discharge down to 2.8V:

Samsung%20INR18650-30Q%203000mAh%20(Pink)-info.png

This is Samsung 30Q, for reference: 10.079W at 5A.

LG%2018650%20MJ1%203500mAh%20(Green)-info.png

LG INR18650 MJ1: 10.821W at 5A.

Sanyo%20NCR18650GA%203500mAh%20(Red)-info.png

Sanyo/Panasonic NCR18650GA: 11.043W at 5A.

Samsung%20INR18650-35E%203500mAh%20(Pink)-info.png

Samsung INR18650-35E: 11.158W at 5A.

Since Terry Koontz's actual average draw is a bit less than 5A, actual energy output difference is a tiny bit higher.

I see the P3 can use smaller cells. KeepPower launched the 18350 1200mAh UH1835P recently, it is believed to be a rewrap from chinese OEM Shenzen Yongde new energy Co. Ltd. (the Aspire 18350 1100mAh too). This is a suggestion in case Terry would like to go mini with his Provari :D P3. It's a tad pricey luxury, though. :pop:

Cheers fellows :)

Thanks for the good info !
I’ve used my P3 in mini(18350), midi(18490),and maxi(18650) modes.
Don’t like mini mode, have to change batts too often.

I estimate the measured energy output at 5A for this cell in no less than ≈3.4V × 1.05Ah = 3.57Wh
This means 3 fully charged UH1835P cells would deliver ≈10.71Wh, while a pair of them clock 7.14Wh. It would be a tiny bit better in practice, as our fellow Terry Koontz's Provari would discharge the cell a bit slower.

Cheers :)
