Hello all!
I've recently switched to flat ribbon wire and use it on a wire rope with a small #500 SS mesh sleeve. My first attempt seemed to go well. My second one pops and crackles like a bag of pop corn when I fire it up.
I'm using 0.8x0.1mm ribbon wire with a 4/3 wrap which comes in at ~0.74 - 0.80 ohms. I really don't know why it crackles like that and it makes the juice fly everywhere. It all glows evenly and I don't seem to notice any hot spots. Is the excessive crackling noise a symptom of the wire being wrapped too loose or too tight?
I've switched back to 28G Kenthal for the moment. Advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
