After 10 months smoke free, it's time to do rebuildables! Love pumping 15w into my kangers with my Vamo V5, but it's just not enough. My selection up here in Canada is limited, and so is my budget, so I'll probably go the ipv V2 or the Cloupor T5. Already have a Trident dripper, so will add a AGA-T7 tank to start with. Yes I know, not the easiest to work with, but I need to learn. What I don't know is what size wire and wick to get. I'm going to be rebuilding kanger and aspire coils too, so I'll be getting 32g kanthal and 2mm eckowool to start. I'm thinking for beginner builds on the rebuildables, 28g and 3mm? I won't be going sub-ohm to start, just want to get the hang of it.

Yep 28g; I only got some recently, and GOD, it's a whole lot easier to finger work with than the thinner wire; coil can hold shape much more reliably.
Right now I'm vaping on a 2.4 ohm on my igo-w3, and a 2.9 ohm on my kayfun. I'm using a screwdriver that's a little less than 3mm to wrap.
For wick I'm just using cotton.

oh- and with the 28g I can successfully squeeze the microcoil together; I never could get it with the thinner gauge 0.1x0.3 that I was using before.

Sounds like I'm going to have fun with the kanger rebuilds then, I think I have to use 32g for them. Which reminds me, does anyone know the lowest ohm kangers I could put 15w into? The 1.8s take it all day long, wondering about 1.5? My Vamo probably won't fire at 1.2, so anything above....

30g is the safe allrounder size of wire as far as I can see.
32g you can doublewrap it to make a thicker gauge yourself, so no loss getting thin wire.

"Lowest ohm kangers ... 15w".
The trouble is the plastic / silicone. You don't want the plastic or silicone grommet at the bottom getting HOT.

I push 15 watts into 3 and 4 ohm coils easy on my vamo; If you've got the 32 gauge then just put more wraps and up the power;
