Long story short I own a few Bartleby's and want to try my hand at some simple box mods. I have plenty of tools and plenty of time, but I could use a push in the right direction as far as my first parts order.

I'd like to try a 2AA box (14500 batt) with 901 atty connector and simple led set-up. Should I just buy the parts listed in the 510 2xAA Box Mod with Led tutorial and sub a 901 connector for the 510? Any preference between the 3mm and 5mm led's?

Thanks

Hi banjoman, just my opinion.. you could absolutely do that.. Just sub the 901 connector for the 510 connector.. Not sure of the hole size for the 901 although it should be right about the same. Start small with the drill and go up from there..

3mm leds and 5mm leds.. Biggest differene is functionality, flashing vs solid other than that the 3mm seem to be a little less obtrusive if you have them pushing through the casing of the box but nothing says the 5mm has to go all the way through the hole, you could put just the tip through..

Built my "nicostick" with MadVapes parts and love it so much it is my all day vaper! I also put the l.e.d. on the side and it is a great location.

I would recomend the 3mm l.e.d. and to not have it stick all the way out because they can be bright in the dark. (mine distracts me in night driving) However, having it placed on the side enables me to simply place a finger over it to block the glow when necessary. I love MadVapes horn style switch.. comfortable, dependable... fantastic little switch!

My second box mod, a 1 "AA" box, made from MadVapes goodies, has no l.e.d. by choice and I love it. It is so small! Smaller than the 2 "AA" box but just as potent with its 14500 battery! Stick it on a key chain and it beats all. If you can... buy some of those boxes and some small switches. My next "mini nicostick" (as I call it) will include one of MadVapes purple l.e.d.s as soon as I can place another order.

I used two part epoxy to fill in the battery connector hole just because I do not yet have lead-free solder and, as a heavy vaperer, I know the battery connectors can get hot being so close to the atomizer. (Not that I want to vape epoxy either... but... well... I need all the brain cells I have remaining! Lesser of two evils perhaps?)

Interesting thing I've found out..... I actually prefer the square box mods over the round pipe type....... great to hold. Also.... I used to want a Bartleby but have no desire for one now. These box mods MadVapes makes available to us are so easy to just pop the battery out of and into a charger... it's great.

I need no mod out there because I spent a few dollars at MadVapes! It's amazing.

Thank you so much Madvapes... I honestly cannot rave about you enough. Proud I spend my money to someone as great and thoughtful as Hoogie. :)

Thanks for the reply dreams n chains...

I've grown partial to the box mods too. They're compact, light, dependable and easy to carry. Thanks to the on/off switch I can just toss my Bart in a JS pouch and belt carry it anywhere I need to go. One thing I learned from the Bartleby is that I have no need for the usb charging port... it's too easy just to keep a supply of charged batteries around.

I'll be placing an order as soon as Hoogie gets in the 10440's. I plan on buying "extra" parts for the initial screw-ups. :p
