Ok been on here for years.
And now I want to mix my own juice...
I just want to make sure am getting the right stuff as am a bit lost lol...

I have perfume apprentice flavs all picked out.
And unflavored nic 60ml 36mg 50/50 pg/vg mix.

Now I use 60 vg and 40 pg mix when I order pemixed juice..
So my question is do I need to order 50/50 unflavored nic juice or straight nic and buy a bottle of vg and pg?
or add a bit more vg to get my 60/40 mix and then the flavoring and thats it??
thx in advance skull...

The nic juice you buy will come in a mix of either PG or VG already. Or some vendors do a 50/50 split. My recommendation would be to get your nic in a 100% PG solution since it is thinner and easier to transfer. So what you do is figure how much nicotine strength you need, add that. Then add your 60% VG solution. Add your flavors which is PG based and then add any remaining PG you need to get you to 40% PG

Ok what percent of flavoring do most people use??

To start, it is recommended to start at 5%. If you need more, then you can just add more in small increments. It's a lot easier adding flavor to a batch than it is to subtract flavor. Personally, 10% works for me but I know some people like it higher. Also, each flavor is different. There is a TPA thread on here that lists the recommended percentage range for all flavors.

If you mix two flavors, then it gets more tricky because you can easily add too much flavor.

you should get your flavors, the 60mg nic, a bottle of PG and one of VG- you then need the ejuice me up calculator eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

For The Flavor Apprentice flavors you have picked out you could be anywhere from 3-15% flavoring- check out this ECF thread for suggestions http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/336110-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread.html

when mixing 2 flavors you can either go 50/50 and cut the %s in 1/2 - say you want 14% flavoring you could do 7% Apple and 7% Caramel

or say you want just a hint of a flavor- say a little creamy aspect to your fruit, and your end goal is 15% flavoring you could go- Black Cherry 10% Bavarian Cream 5%

You should also pick up some Ethyl Malto liquid and add it at 1%-3% to juices you want to sweeten up a little

Hi,
I agree with getting the e juice me up calculator. it is great for DIY mixing. Keep you on the right track and is very easy to use.

Since you haven't bought your stuff yet, keep this in mind..
The nic at 36mg - you will need to add more of this, than if you got it at 50mg. I use 100 mg, but wish I would have got it in a 50 mg, because at 100 mg, I will have that bottle until it expires. LOL Mine is the 50/50 nic, and I can make a 30/70 pg/vg mix with it. But prefer more of a 50 50 area.
If you want more vg, you may want to use a vg only nic. Get a larger (Fatter) needle for your syringe to suck it out with though, because it will be thick.

Oh, and use syringes to measure. Drops are too inaccurate and inconsistent.
I got 3, 1 mil, 1 3 mil, and a 10 mil syringe when I first started my own mixing. That is a good point to start. Wish I had a 5 mil, but didn't see one back then.

Most flavors out there are pg based, but not all.

I found a lot of trial and error goes a long ways. Read the forums posted above for a good starting point, but adjust as needed for your taste. Start with small 2 to 5 mil batches until you get the formula right for you, then you can increase the total amount to make in the calculator, and all the guess work is gone.

Good luck and have fun with it.

I have been doing DYI juice for a few months now. The best advice I got when I started was to be patient and mix one flavor at a time. That way you will learn what each flavor taste like individually. Then when I started combining flavors I had a better idea of the what would work best together and at what concentrations. For experimenting with combo mixes I mix each component flavor individually and treat it as a stand alone mix(PG/VG ratio, Nic %) then steep at least 3 days. Now when I start combining the juices I don't have to worry because the PG/VG ratio, Nic%, and flavor concentrations will stay the same. The only thing that changes is the individual flavors concentration as it pertains to the total volume of the final product.

OK ordered my flavors.
And I have my supplies and nic juice in my cart.
If I get 60ml all vg at 100mg and I add 140ml of pg what ratio is the mix?
Hope this makes sense.

Honesty, you can hit all of your ratios with a 48mg or 60 mg NIC base in either pg or vg. I don't really recommend starting with 100mg unless you are very confident your abilities.

Yes, if that's unflavored, but you'll need to account for the percentage of the total volume that the flavoring needs. So the 60 ml of 36mg and you want 18mg, so meed another 60 ml total of 0 nic additives. you want to go say 5% flavor, so that's 6 ml. Leaving you in need of 54 ml of unflavored, 0 nic.

when doing the DIY, always get more PG and VG without flavor or nic. That way you can get the mix the way you want it. At the nic level you want it.

I hate to see you trying this without any calculator, especially if your working with 100MG Nic.
NOTE: 100 mg nic can and will kill. Wear rubber gloves, and wash any spills off without waiting a second.. it absorbs into the skin and will make you sicker than a dog before you know what hit you. Wash off fast and do not just wipe it off with a towel.

Also, you should be able to get a phone ap, if you have an android or apple phone to do calculations. Don't try it without some basic tool, for your own safety. They are out there and they are free. heck, there may even be one out there you can use on a mac, but if not, you can put a windows emulator on your mac to use e juice me up. There are also several on line calculators out there. Just search google and you will find them.
Safety first, or messing with 100 mg nic can cause serious harm or death. Oh,, and the fumes on 100 mg nic are harsh. Very harsh. Make sure you have good ventilation or you will wish you did. It will smell the place up quick with a fresh bottle.

Good luck with it.
