I'm in need of a hand in the St. Pete area, I'm going to be relocating to that area the second week of Aug (next month). My principle concern is finding work and since I am not in that area yet I'm limited to online job searches and not every place that is hiring posts their openings online. So if anyone in that area knows of any openings or could keep an eye open for me I would greatly appreciate it. I've got good computer skills and I'm a quick learner so the type of work doesn't really matter at this point.

Community Bank has been advertising about their upcoming job fair - Community Bank & Co. ..

And both USF (usf.edu) and the city itself (stpete.org) have posted an increasing number of recent positions. All available online at their sites to take a look.

The St. Pete Pier area has a bunch of hospitality service jobs just posted on and inside doors. They're changing constantly and turnover seems high so if you're into being a waiter, valet, etc. you can just walk up and down those streets.

The local UPS and FedEx hubs (closer to the airport) just went through a hiring binge but were still looking for station and logistics managers as of last week.

CSC and Northrup have positions open direct and through contract to work at MacDill but that can be a bit of a commute if you're living in St. Pete proper. The Coast Guard might have similar positions and has an employment desk close to the docks and Dali museum in St. Pete.

Good luck man, see you down here, -Magnus

I have a friend that got into the promo stuff at the pier and she's constantly busy. She started working at the wine store at the pier, since she's done food service at private parties, promo stuff at all the festivals and even worked the at races in the Danika booth. Good advice from Magnus. (nice job :))

If you're still looking, Tampa is pretty much the call center capital of the world. A lot of big companies have call centers here, they pay alright and are almost always hiring (They have a really high turnover rate). If you live in St. Pete, the drive into Tampa for 1st or 2nd shift isn't bad... But trust me from experience: Don't take a job in Tampa that starts between 4pm-7pm, the traffic is an absolute nightmare that that time.
You can also check with the local temp agencies - IT Resources is good if you're into IT work, K-Force (I never had good luck with them though), Aerotek (I think it's Mentor 4 now... I don't remember, been a while), Stream, and a few others. If you go onto Careerbuilder.com and do a search for jobs in the Tampa Bay area, you'll find just about every temp agency :)
