Hi Guys,

I found someone that is making me stab doors custom made. I get to pick the dyes and he's cutting out the doors, a button, drip tip, and beauty ring. Included is also an engraving.

I tried making a couple designs but i'm not sure how I feel about them.

Can I get your thoughts on which one you like better or if you have ideas?

These are not the colours i'll be getting, but they're there to give an idea what it would look like.

These are just quick drafts. Once I decide what which direction to go, i'll do them properly and add more detail.

big and clean. evertything else won't look good against an erratic background.

the last "plug" logo and the last "panda bear + cloud chaser" thing, they got the potential to look good.

i don't know what techniques you'll be using for the engraving, but instead of leaving the "white" areas of the logos completely transparent, you could try to give them a white-ish/bleached look (via UV / H2O2 / Chlorite)

Originally it was supposed to be CNCed. When he saw the design i'm working on he suggested that we use laser engraving. I imagine it's because it won't go as deep and ruin the strength of the door and also let us capture detail.

I've been working more on the cloud chaser one I put on the last image. I made some of the details (nose and pupils) bigger so that you can see it engraved.

Laser Marking/Engraving has an Advantage over Hard Milling in that you can achieve some very Fine Line Detail. Whereas the level of Detail in Hard Milling is limited to the Cutter's Diam and Side Profile.

But the Side Profile and Cutter Tip (ie: Flat vs Ball vs Radius vs Point) of an Engraving Tool can yield some Very Nice 3D effects. It can Also cause "Tear Out" on wood.

Hard to say what you would like Better? But Laser Marking/Engraving would probably be "Safer" than Hard Milling.

I tend to like Graphics in Relief. Here is an example of something I did awhile back...

Either way you go, its Really a Good Idea to do some Test Cutting on a piece of rem. Especially if you decide to go the Milling Route.

ETA: The Image above is "In Reverse" because it is part of Injection Mould Die Set.
