I'm trying to figure this whole voltage/wattage thing out in relation to dual coil tanks... I have a PT3 with a head that reads 2.1 or 2.2 on my Provari... I normally like to vape around 9 watts so with a single coil that would mean about 4.4 volts... what does it mean with a dual coil? From what I have been able to figure out, a dual coil atty that lists a resistance of say 2.0 ohms has 2 coils in it that are 4 ohms each? If thats the case what voltage should I be running- 5.5 to 6? I've been afraid to turn it up that high and been running it about 5 and getting an OK vape with vanilla juice...

Any suggestions? What voltage would YOU run it at?

It's true, a 2.0 ohm dual coil is actually two 4.0 ohm coils running parallel. Kanger supplies a card with recommendations for voltage ranges, which I would follow if you still have it.

I typically just start on a low voltage and work my way up in increments until the specific juice flavor that I am using starts to taste burnt, then back down a couple tenths voltage.

Some people use the ohm + 2 formula. Take the ohm rating and add the number two to find the voltage. 2 ohm + 2 = 4 volts. I find that fruit flavors are better at lower voltage and others like tobacco or coffee flavors are better at medium voltages. Experiment with the flavors that you have. There are no hard rules when it comes to choosing voltage/wattage ranges.

Exactly as baditude says... If you want 9W you will have to run around 6v. Careful of firing those PT3s at too low of a voltage. It slow boils the liquid and gunk builds up fast. When I was using pt3 tanks I found the secret is to star a fresh head with at least 4.5-4.7V. Given the wicking they use, avoid super long drags and rapid hits back to back. The wicks need to re saturate.
