Need some help

Hey guys. I'm pretty new to vaping and I've been running into nothing but issues. First I got an eleaf ijust s and it kept leaking no matter what I did.. so I decided to try something else and got an istick pico with a melo 3 mini atomizer.

Now this one just keeps burning coils. At first it just tastes like nothing, then after 30mins - 1hour it starts having a burning taste. I've tried 0.3 / 0.5 kanthal ones with different wattage, even going as low as 10w. I've also tried the ec-ti titanium ones in temperature mode with 200c (and lower) and 20-40w firing wattage.

I'm priming them as necessary, taking a few hits without pushing the button.. it's always the same. If it helps I'm using 70/30 ejuice.

Just looking for some advice since this has been getting pretty expensive and I don't know what to do anymore.

Turn watts down to 8 and slowly work up. the ranges on the attys are just suggestions. Burnt taste always means heat = too high.
When breaking in new attys always prime with ejuice and allow to sit for at least 5 mins. Then a couple of tokes without hitting the fire button. Turn watts down and take a couple of tokes, them up the watts to the next half or whole number. Another couple of tokes. If it taste good there keep using. If and when you think its not enough then up the watts some more.

eta is that 70 pg and 30 vg ejuice. Usually tanks require a bit thicker ejuice but not always. Thinner ejuice tends to burn quicker and hotter. Also taste can start to come through after the tank has had time to sit awhile. Or by the 2nd tank. And if are chain vaping without giving the mod a chance to cool off you need a 2nd mod. Always a good idea to have a backup device anyway.

I've already done all that. 8w does pretty much nothing with these coils but i've tried starting there and working my way up .5w at a time, still the same.. an hour later at 20w burning taste comes in.

Also tried a 20/80 juice and it's still the same.. as for the taste coming in I think I've already gone through at least 5 tanks.

Then its the ejuice. Your vaping style does not seem to allow the coil to wick quickly enough resulting in the burnt taste. Have you tried using different ejuice?

Are you allowing the device to have any cooling off time? I use these coils all the time and haven't had these problems. How do you vape? Is this your only device?

Maybe you should dry a non sub ohm tank, such as a aspire nautilus mini with a 1.8ohm coil this fits the pico i did that with the istick pico 75w and i have never looked back, ive given up the analogues as a result

I have run into this problem and my problem was that I took too many hits in a row and did not give my atomizer/wick time to resoak and the end problem was that

my juice was not satisfying me ........and so switched to Red Hot Fireball and mixed in fifty percent cool menthol and now only need a good hit and I'm satisfied for a

few moments....................just long enough for my wick to resoak..................just my experience..........your milage may vary..............

It does help

70% VG is quite thick and has issues wicking.

What wattages are you running?

When you start on a new coil head of coil in RDA or RTA; it takes time for tge capillary action of the wicks to get going.

When starting on a new wick saturate tge sick completely with ejuice then turn down the wattage TK 60-75% of what you were vaping the old coil at. Vape there for 5-10 minutes and slowly bump the wattage to where you want it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I forgot to say that I'm not chain vaping.. I always give it at least 30 sec between hits so it's not that.
I'm using the same coils on the ijust s and they're working just fine, great taste and everything (altough that one leaks a lot so I only use it at home).

The problem is only on the pico.. I might try changing tanks.. but at this point I'm thinking about throwing it away and go with something else.

The problem is in your atomizer, juice or technique.
Don't throw away your Pico. It was the Mod of 2016.IME.
PG is the flavor carrier, not VG.
Wicking becomes problematic in a Tank with high VG fluids..

The problem is in your atomizer, juice or technique.
Don't throw away your Pico. It was the Mod of 2016.IME.

Well I'm using the same juice on the iJust S and the same technique and everything has been great since I got it. If it is the atomizer could it be fixed somehow ?

I was exaggerating a bit, I'm not a wasteful person and I will try to fix it in every way I can.

Well, I found out the problem. The wick takes a really long time to soak, like more than a minute. If I close off the airflow and take a few hits without powering on to soak it, I can use it at my normal rate of ~30sec/hit. So I guess I'll be looking for a new atomizer.

Eleaf also makes a ECR coil that you can wick and coil yourself and its super easy to do. They look just like the .3 and .5 coils but the top comes off so you can coil and wick it. They come with a coil installed and all you do is pull cotton through the coil. It only takes a minute but gives you control. You can also buy coils already made for convenience tho making your own is super easy also.
