Hello,

I made my first couple coils earlier this week and I am hoping to get some feedback on some issues I ran into.

I followed this tutorial on my first attempt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrvwOf13U-s

this is how it turned out:

2.0 ohms, 28ga kanthal, qtip cotton. Tasted absolutely amazing. but it leaked after a few minutes. So I made a second one. (looks a little better, but nearly the same, it's still in the tank so no pics)

This time I managed to get it at 1.8 ohms as planned. No leaking, amazing taste. Warm vape @ 4.8v on an ego twist, no burnt taste. BUT...

I quickly noticed I was getting lots of spitting from the tank. Checked vaping thru a thin tissue, can see small droplets of juice on the tissue. (regular pro-tank heads under the same test = clear water vapor markings without any juice stains)

Tried to add a 1mm silica flavor wick. Seemed to reduce some of the spitting but also muted the flavor quite a bit. And I'm still getting juice stains with the tissues tests.

I then tried http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cro-coil-build-aro-evod-protank-heads-11.html.

Tastes really good, but gurgles like crazy. I tried packing more cotton into it, still no luck, never seen this much gurgling. Otherwise, no leaks and it was easy to build.

I don't know what I might have done wrong, my DMM is giving me 4 ohms on the vertical coil (13 wraps, 28ga kanthal on 18g blunt needle tip). I was expecting 2 ohms. I will give this another go tomorrow, but so far the second attempt with the horizontal coil is by FAR the best vape I ever had, I would LOVE to get it working right, without it spitting all that juice into my mouth.

Sorry for the long post, but whatever comments you guys might have will be much appreciated. Is the spitting "normal" with this kind of setup? Is it possible to have: horizontal micro coil, no flavor wicks, at around 5v, WITHOUT any spitting?

I'm obviously very new to all this and could use all the advice I can get! or opinions of which gave best results for people that have tried both builds, what you prefer about them, etc.. please share anything that comes to mind

cheers!

I had a lot of the same problems when building similar protank coils with cotton, it seems most of them came from my style of vaping but i did notice that leaving more cotton sticking out of the heads helped alot. Try leaving about 1/4 inch of cotton sticking out past the widest part of the protank head then screw it into the base and gently stuff it in the space surrounding the head. The goal is to stop the juice from freely flowing inside of the head and flooding it.

I have a question, so you use the ego twist with the protank? I have the same setup, the coil I have is 2.2 ohm. I have to vape at 3.7-3.9v to not get a burnt taste. I like a lot of vapor and a big hit. How what would I need to change this?
