I joined this forum about 4 years ago and have been smoke free now for about 3 years. I almost exclusively used the 510 models and USB direct connections. I quit cigarettes within a week of my first ecig puff and have never had another. I thoroughly enjoyed the ecigs and weaned down to almost no nicotine in the end but after smoking the ecig for about a year I started getting pretty sever chest pains, saw my doctor and had many tests but nothing was ever found to be the cause. To me it seemed ecig related so I quit vaping and after about 2 weeks the chest pains stopped and have never come back. I think I had a reaction to the PG juice?

The main thing is that I no longer smoke and have no desire to do so again because the ecigs are much easier to quit than cigarettes. Now my wife wants to quit and I am trying to get her going on ecigs. I purchased an eroll kit but it just doesn't seem very durable and the PCC case quit charging. Now I ordered 2 of the $12.95 EGO K CE4 from My Freedom Smokes and they seem to work well and are very simple to operate. Not sure yet if anything is replaceable I have an assortment of juices and a bottle of 80/20 PG/VG to dilute the juices as necessary.

OK, sorry about the long story but so much has changed in the hardware. Now there are CLearomizers with the atomizer built in? Replaceable atomizers, how long do they last? Is there a better more economical long term solution. I also would still like to find a kit that will be portable for her and keep her battery charged.

Any thoughts will be appreciated and finally THANK YOU E-Cigarette Forum for adding years to this 70 year old's life.

They all essentially have a coil (wire that heats up) and wick, which holds the liquid, and the heat of the coil brings the liquid to a gas state, the vapor. Some atomizers hold a few milliliters of liquid, and some have heads (a threaded part with the wick and coil) that can be replaced, and you can get new ones for almost $1 a piece. How long they last depends on a lot of factors... Then there are Rebuildable Atomizers, which have a + and - terminals, where you wrap your own coil, place the wick, and put a few drops at a time, and they produce a lot of vapor and enhanced taste, but need to be kept wet, so you need to drip after so many puffs. Those coils/ wicks last awhile, but also depend on a lot of factors.

There are probably a lot more battery options out there now, than there were 4 years ago, the eGo Twist is a very common one, which many different variations from tons of different companies. Then there are APV's which has circuits that will cut off if it detects too much voltages, too little, or too big of an electrical load. Mechanical mods are popular, where you use universal rechargable batteries (18350, 18500, and 18650 are most common), a simple design where the button directly completes the circuit.

I find the replaceable atomizers last me about a week of solid use, and then need to be flushed (Kanger EVOD / PROTANK / T3) or replaced (iClear and Vision V3). Personally I wouldn't even both with those last 2 options, just too much mess and fuss and they all tend to leak.

For your ego batteries I think the EVOD tanks are awesome and cheap. Full tank is like $10-12 and replacement atomizers are $1.50 each. With a good flush every week and a burn off cleaning every other week I can get these atomizers to last 4-6 weeks before needing to replace them.

Thanks for your replies. I need to research more about hardware and the thread connections because I want to make sure whatever devices I decide to go with are cross compatible. I want the tanks, atomizers and batteries to all work together so the first purchases are the most important. The EGO K CE4 disposables I purchased are compatible with what systems? EVOD or EGO?

From what I can tell, the kit you have will be compatible with any of the 510 or ego threaded juice delivery devices such as a protank or eVod. Most ego type batteries have both 510 threads (the inside threads) and ego threads (the larger outside threads).

Congratulations on your success and here's hoping that your wife will have the same success.
