I want to be very precise when making my own e juice. I bought syringes and it occurred to me that different needles will have different capacities. I even see ppl on youtube attaching tubes to the end instead of needles then being very careful to suck up a precise amount of nicotine but seemingly ignoring that the tube they are using will hold several milliliters of liquid all by itself.

See what I'm asking here? Does anyone know how to properly use a syringe to measure and to account for the fluid that is in the needle? I'm sure that the plunger and markings take into account common needle volume capacity, but larger gauges will hold larger amounts. What are you guy's thoughts on this?

Couple things you could do. Empty the amount in the tip into a 1ml syringe body and see how much it holds and then compensate. If it holds .5ml just fill the syringe that much less. Another way is to leave a little air in the syringe and empty it until you hit the zero mark and then stop, put the rest back into the source bottle.

Personally I usually make 60ml or larger bottles so I don't sweat being less than a ml off.

Seriously, I've been DIY 'mixing' fer near two point five years. I must say that if you can discern da diff twix a recipe with a 'full' syringe needle vs. an MT one, or taste a prior flav in a syringe after just a good rinse, ya need to put in an application to da FBI/CIA/TSA/world wide bomb squads/etc!!! Ya could possibility save da world and put a kennel or two of blood hounds/bomb sniffers out to pasture.

IF ya mix 1ml successful recipes, I'll laud your ever soooo subtle finesse!

After posting this I made 5 3ml tester batches and kinda worked this out in the process. I came to the same conclusion as everyone here replied with. I'll tell ya mixing up 3ml bottles is hard. Not really a very good way to test a flavor imo. One drop difference is pretty substantial. Thanks for all the replies. This is a VERY responsive forum.
