I recently bought a Patriot clone, and the negatives posts are supposed to be pressed fit into the base, one of the negative posts freely comes out. Is there anyway to fix this or just a lost cause?
Several methods come to mind... four of which may be more costly than the clone, if you don't already have the tools and materials on hand.
1. Silver solder it.
2. Electrically conductive epoxy. (Al sorts of brands and types, including "silver-filled"... research required)
3. Distort the metal ("raise" it) one shaft, bore (or both)... to improve the press fit.
4. Copper, silver or gold foil might also be used to improve (by shimming) the press fit.
5. If it's a real loose fit... as an alternate to #4 as a "press fit improver" shim, would be
electrically conductive adhesive backed copper tape.
