My wife and I got some new e-juice samples this weekend from a different supplier than our standard supplier. The new juice is PG based and my wife seems to start to feel bad after vaping it?

She has only tried the new PG juice a few times to sample the different flavors (about 4-6 puffs each time) and started to feel nauseous and turned white like she was going to pass out. The nicotine level was actually lower than the juice we had before at 18mg with the first bottle we got (of the VG) at 24mg. It also dried her mouth/throat excessively.

We called the old supplier to double check and the other juice we were getting is VG based with vegetable glycerin. She doesn't recall having a bad reaction to the old juice. I didn't notice a lot of difference except the drying of the mouth vs the old juice. We both agreed the vapor production was a bit lower and the new PG juice is thinner.

I am really trying to support and help her quit the analogs. Any recommendations/links on 100% VG suppliers? She likes the flavor of the PG juices such as the Camel, 555, Virginia and Tobacco. Where can we get these in 100% VG? Any thoughts, comparisons or similar stories?

Here is my intro thread for background on the equipment.

You don't need 100% VG suppliers. Most larger real juice makers offer several PG/VG choices including 100% VG. Check FreedomSmokeUSA - their normal tobacco flavors are available in 100% VG (try Desert Ship for camel, and they have Virginia). However their Samples and their Specialty tobacco mixes are only available in 50/50 (which she may also want to try if you see a flavor she would like - a nice blend). 555 is in the Specialties

I believe they have more tobacco flavors than any other juice vendor.

Note PG lets through the most flavor, nicotine TH and nicotine irritation
VG dulls everything PG lets through - so she is used to a really smooth vape

So I you do buy a 50/50 juice try even lower nic like 10-12mg maybe?

Thanks for the feedback. :2cool:

Any vapers ever have a bad reaction to VG based juice?

Sure. Anyone with a lot of food allergies may have issues. If I had a reaction to soy I'd be careful.

It really depends on the supplier though too. I personally can't use high VG ratio. I run and it gives me a heavy feeling in my chest. I feel much better with higher PG. I am also not crazy about having juice with alcohol in it like most VG based juices do.

I think less than 10% of people have an actual allergy. It's not like there aren't options though. Ideal for cartos is usually around 70% or 80% PG. But many people say they don't have problems with higher VG or all VG if that's what you want.

sammy43, I do vape some 100% VG e-liquids in cartomizers. It's awfully thick, though, and doesn't wick very well through the filler. I've found two tricks:

  1. Dilute the 100% VG e-liquid with maybe 5% distilled water. You'll have to pour out the gooey e-liquid into a larger container to mix the distilled water thoroughly. Just adding 1.5 ml. distilled water to 30 ml. 100% VG e-liquid in the original bottle and then shaking won't mix it properly. I use a little bitty whisk to really froth it up in a small bowl. Then pour the mixture back into the original bottle: there should be enough "head room" in the bottle to accommodate the slight increase in volume.
  2. Have several setups, then rotate after a few tokes. By the time you've had your fourth or so toke on setup #5, setup #1 will have had enough time for that gooey 100% VG to re-dissipate in the filler.
Usually, just doing #2 works fine, but some VG e-liquids are so Karo-syrupy that I've had to do #1 as well.

She tried the PG juice again tonight and had the same reaction after only 1 puff. It made her feel awful! She had to go lay down and take a nap to feel better. :(

I asked her to hold off until we can get some more VG. She was hoping to not have to buy any more analogs and switch to the PV only but it is really tough to quit those darn things!

Only problem I seem to be having with the PG juice we got is it drys my mouth/lips. My lips are chapped like they are in winter. I used some Carmex earlier and am keeping a big glass of ice water handy when I vape.

Thanks again everybody. This is a great forum!

Stop and think that it may be a particular flavor additive too that could be the issue as well. May not be just the PG or VG. Have a few flavors that have left a bit lethargic as of late {perhaps}(since I have been hitting them almost exclusively) so laying off of them for the next few days and trying something different. Giving it a test too see if its the base PG/VG or a flavor that doesn't agree with me.

My opinion is as with all things, generally mild unharmful side effects are normal with everything. How many side effects did you deal with smoking? I'd say have lots of pg/vg blends.

Bombayvaping has amazing juices and you cam completely customize the pg and vg, 100% of either or somewhere in between. Great vendors too very helpful and quick!

ETA serious side effects should be assessed immediately and cause removed. You can later introduce again and see if reactions are better =)

AHH,,i cant vape PG either,,makes me dizzy as hell,,so i vape 100% VG ..it dont wick too well in carto's
but the option {analogs} is not really an option so i push forward using the learning curve

VG seems to dehydrate me really bad...pass the water please

Dehydrate me too but I still prefer mostly vg. I dilute with 10-20 drops of vodka per 6 ml. Works well thinning it!'

ETA pretty much.. Vaping just straight up dries my mouth especially when I chain vape (which is like always haha). Drink lots of water-especially while vaping, eat fruits and veggies (high water content), and I chew gum sometimes while vaping if the flavor is compatible.

I like the diluting idea and I love vodka so will have to try that. :smokie:

We ordered some 100% VG juice that will probably be here Friday. Will try that first and see how it goes. Then we might try some VG and PG mixed. I ordered the same flavor that my wife had before that she liked (and didn't have any bad reactions to) just in case it is the flavorings causing the problem. Also ordered a lower nicotine level at 12mg where before we had 24mg and 18mg.

I also got an extra mega battery, a new atomizer, blank double capacity cartridges and some blank cartomizers for her RN4081 setup so we will have at least two complete units.

Another note here is the massive price difference. 15ml of the VG Marl-boro at the mall was $25! The 10ml VG we ordered was $4.99!

Thanks again to all for the great suggestions, tips and tricks. :2cool:

A couple notes on the flavors that she had the bad reaction to. She tried the Camel, Virginia and 555 in the PG and had reactions to all and stopped after that with 7 other flavors she did not try.

The Camel was the first she tried and it seemed to give her the worst reaction but she also puffed on it for a lot longer before she realized it was making her feel bad. The Virginia she had high hopes for but gave up after 4-5 puffs starting to feel bad and turning very pale. The 555 she only puffed once and got the light headed feeling but I think she was reluctant at that point to puff any more.

Any particular flavors in the PG or even the VG that anyone notices causing reactions over other flavors?
