im sure yours is fine but the odds of this happening on a clone are more likely than on an authentic is basically what i was saying

But based on what? The price tag? I have three hcigar nemesis. The lock ring is so wide, I'm not sure how you could strip it if you wanted to. Regardless of how it got stripped, the take away here should be to know what's going on with your mods. Clone vs authentic really isn't part of the picture.

With ANY mod you really do need to know what is going on with it.

I have a very nice Chi clone. If I do not get it adjusted EXACTLY right every single time I change a battery or topper it will fire continuously even with the locking ring engaged. That is on me to make sure I set it up properly and not on the mod.

Could you not tell the threads were stripped? Typically threads don't just decide to be stripped. Something generally has to cause them to strip, whether cheap threads or wear and tear on the threads. Every time I strip a thread I know I have. I am not trying to be condescending, I own two nemy clones and just can't see how I wouldn't know the the lock wasn't stripped. Glad it was a "safe" vent for you and not a horrible incident.

As a side, be careful driving down the road with a backpack between your legs.

I knew they weren't incredibly tight threads, but I didn't think they were that bad. It was an old mod given to me by a friend. It had been through the ringer

You seem to forget that most clones are made from the exact same materials as the real deal and use almost identical machining processes. You must be the type that assumes a high price means high quality and low price means low quality. That is not always the case my friend...

to OP: Im a chef as well and can attest to handling hot things regularly.
My nemesis locking somehow backed itself off and was firing in my pocket for who knows how long before I noticed. It was all I could do to hold the mod long enough to get it out of my pocket. I too could not help feeling like I had a grenade in my pocket. I no longer pocket that mod, live and learn!

I had sort of the same thing happen recently. I took a couple of vapes from my mod locked the ring and set it on the counter and went to work. When I got home something smelled burnt checked and somehow it was firing slowly for 9 hours. It burned the connect pin in the RSST atty was all, battery wasn't hot. I decided from now on to pull the battery on all of them if I'm not using. Actually it's working quite well as the adjustment is usually the atty connection and just dropping in a battery work 90% of the time.

Glad you and your girlfriend were not hurt, dispose of the whole unit and get something else.

Ahh makes sense. Vaping is a lot about tolerance/risk level. It is what I like about clones. I can strip threads on anything. If I strip threads on a 200 device I will be upset.. on a 20 dollar device? I can toss it without feeling guilty.

I am of the type that I take my atty off any device when I am traveling and not using it.
