If it's a good buzz your after, and that is what I got from your post, then nicotine wont do it. Nicotine is a drug but not in the way your thinking. It wont get you HIGH. Nicotine is highly addictive and once addicted it's very very hard to kick. I've tried several times over a period of 35 years. E-cigs for me is the lesser of two evils, as it is for many others here. Also if you do start vaping nicotine what happens if for some reason you no longer have access to an e-cig. If this were to happen you would then find out just how addictive nicotine is, as you buy your first pack of real cigarettes. I'm glad that you posted here instead of just going off and doing it, and i hope you heed our advice.

Is this a bad idea? The health effects don't seem to be too bad. How rewarding is it compared to the buzz from a single alcoholic drink of a energy drink?

[DISCLAIMER: This is my personal opinion based upon my personal history of substance use. It is not to be taken as encouragement for anyone to start any substance use]

Imho you're asking for a comparison between apples and hubcaps here...

Energy Drink? I've only ever had one 5 Hour Energy and while it did "perk" me up I don't classify that as a "buzz". And I don't like what they use for sweeteners in it, so that's done and gone.

Alcohol? Hmmmm, I was an alcoholic 26 years ago and the "buzz" from alcohol never compared to an energy drink. It made me more social - yes. And I couldn't dance at that time without two or three under the belt, but those were self-confidence issues I've since addressed. Rewarding? Naw, I had the kind of physiology where I burned alcohol really fast, so I drank a lot. About the time my liver started to hurt I couldn't get drunk anymore, just a poisoned feeling. So I quit. Took me two weeks, but weaning was fairly easy for me.

I also did drugs back then, never cared for weed, put me to sleep. Thai Stick and hash either temporarily paralyzed me or made me blind - respectively so they were out. My drug of choice then was co-caine (word filter blanks original word) and not that crack stuff either. The buzz from that was a true buzz imho. Up all day, not hungry, not tired - go, go, go. Rewarding yes, but my wallet couldn't sustain it so it had to go. Quit in one day.

Cigarettes aka nicotine. I started mouth smoking at twelve as the public school kids thought I was a narc because I didn't have a vice. Stopped me from getting beat up. Later in senior year someone noticed I mouth smoked and made fun of me, so like an idiot I started smoking. Besides the initial dizzyness and vomiting I never noticed a "buzz". Rewarding? NO, never.

Quitting smoking, never-been-able-to. Period. This is the WORST addiction I have ever had. It made me feel like a complete failure to not be able to quit smoking when I had quit so many other things.

E-cigs are a vehicle for me, an alternative to smoking and hopefully down the road a way to not imbibe in nicotine. Hopefully.

If I had it to do all over again knowing what I know now? I wouldn't do any of it. It wasted too much of my time, too much of my money and wasted several good years of my youth.

And trust me, no matter what you feel about your life now, you will look back with nostalgia as far as your energy levels and endurance. They really do wane later on in life.

Sorry for the book, I'm done now, back to your regular progamming

It's not the popular opinion, but do it. Flat out do it. You want to, and you'll always wonder what it's like if you don't. Start with 0 and move to 6mg. 11mg or higher will just make you sick if you are not a smoker. Nicotine is not horribly toxic. I could make a convincing argument that refined sugar is far more deadly than nicotine. And, yes I do feel a buzz from nicotine. It's a nice, subtle buzz that lasts for about ten minutes, but nothing like drinking or pot. I'd rather have a nice vape than drink a soda. It picks me up, tastes good and is not out to make me a diabetic. And, I'll say this- when you try it, you're gonna love it.

I just tried something.

You could call me a professional smoker. Smoking for 35 years. Using the ecig to smoke less, not to quit (at the moment). Started with 16 mg, upped it to 24 mg. Recently mixed me some 36 mg. Decided just now to actually try it. Well, I would certainly call that a buzz. A nice buzz? Not really, I've had better. Somehow my brain seems to have stopped, everything seems to be a bit not from this world, and my body feels like it's been knitted from wool. I wish it would go away, still have some shopping to do this afternoon. Don't dare to right now.

Yeah, but would you run out to a store at 2 in the morning because you are out of refined sugar? OP, you'd be better off hitting your toe with a hammer than to start smoking\vaping anything.

There have been times when I refused to eat my pizza/taco bell/what have you without first going to the gas station for a bottle of soda. Anybody else willing to make a late night excursion for their soda addiction?

Lol, not me. I've never considered myself addicted to anything other than cigs\nicotine. Very powerful addiction imo. It shapes our lives. I don't think the same can be said for refined sugar, or soda. If it is for you, then that's hardcore dude lol. I've never heard of a soda addiction, but everyone's different.

LOL, it would probably help to mention that I'm hypoglycemic and a pre-diabetic hence the sugar is poison rant. :]

Here is an article about a soda addiction so bad it actually killed a woman!

Hellfire, no. Never was a fan of hellfire....:p

One thing I wish I could have all of the money I've ever spent on nicotine for?

Books. I get the best "buzz" reading a damn good sci-fi or fantasy book.

Shoot, if I had half that money I'd get built in shelves and start my own library.

I'm old school all the way with reading. Don't think I'll ever convert easily to iPads, Nooks or Kindles.

I will probably get flamed for this but here goes, lol. I have started vaping 0mg because I am addicted to sugar. It does happen and you would be surprised how hard it is to quit. I have gotten cravings for it and have gone to a store just to get something sweet. I wanted to try vaping to see if it would help curb my sugar addiction and I am proud to say that I have lost 4lbs. I love kickbassvapor! Their candy, bakery, coffee, etc. flavors are so satisfying for me. In a situation like mine I would totally recommend it to someone.

Big fan of reading myself. I did, however, sell all of my books and took the money and bought my favorites for my iPad. Now, I have more room in my house and I'll always have my favorites everywhere I go. Also, moving... I used to hate moving simply because I feared all of the back pain involved in moving dozens of book filled boxes. :]

All human beings have the inherent right do do absolutely anything that they can accomplish at any given moment and face the consequences there of. Vape if you want to. It's still unproven technology with no long term health studies and you've already had the super scary nicotine stick shaken at you enough in this thread. You can place your bet and take your chances or not as you see fit. Asking people on this forum if you should is just going to get you a whole lot of the same kind of protecting you for your own good replies.

omg, I love that Bookcase House.

I get it on the inconvenience books can be. I routinely give books to family and the local library to make room for the new.

I haunt the B&N 40-60% off racks online. :p Love buying 50 books for about $100. Do this about once a year. I get to read many new authors this way. Only keep my absolute faves.

Agreed, the OP can do what they want. They're of legal age.

Would I have wanted someone to step up and come on strong to me about not smoking back when? Yes.

OP asked, we answered honestly what we thought. No need to demonize us.

Naw, I know that some folks find it difficult to quit sugar. My husband is one of them. Even after losing all his teeth, having his jaw rebuilt and getting implant dentures he still has a sugar jones that's crazy. Too bad (or lucky him) that he doesn't gain very much weight no matter how much donuts, chocolate and other goodies he eats. We have to hide the candy at Christmas or no-one else would get any, lol

Glad that it worked out for you.

Nicko I have scoured through all of your forum posts because I initially suspected you were a spammer or something, I am really sorry! Maybe it's just the tone of your posts - anyway I am posting to say sorry I can see most of your posts are honest opinion which is what this forum is for - honest opinion! We can't all agree :)

I would like to thank the people who agreed with me, but I probably shouldn't because I don't want to be insulted again on this thread or this forum.

Hey Nicko. Don't get bent out of shape dude. This is a touchy subject imo. Especially for folks who wish they never started smoking. Your opinion counts just as much as the next guy's, even though I don't agree with it. Just wanted to put that out there. Have a good day.:2cool:

I like nicotine. When people ask me if my intention of using an e-cig is to eventually get off the nic they seem shocked by my reply.

If you are curious what the effects are like I would say its close to caffeine or sugar but more relaxing, helps me stay calm and focused.. not much buzz really unless you OD which feels horrible.
