Hi All -- after 30 yrs @ 1 pack a day (Benson and Hedges lights and delux ultra lights) ... I've started vaping.

Equipment.

  • Joye e roll
  • Joye 510
  • Joye 1000 mah with clearomizer

juice

16 mg Benson and Hedges Gold and Silver - 70 - PG - 30 - VG
11 mg Benson and Hedges Gold and Silver - 70 - PG - 30 - VG
Some flavoured samples (grape, vanilla, newport mint, mocha, cappuccino) that, with the exception of the mocha, taste disgustingly chemical like ... ALL (6 MG) ...

JUICES ARE ALL FROM CHINA ...

Like a lot of people when they first start, I "od'd" a couple of times by vaping too much and ended up buying a 0 mg base juice to lessen the potency of the 16 mg.

And I'm suffering from time to time from the following "symptoms" which may sound familiar to many ...

  • Dry nose, sinus'
  • Dehydration and dry lips
  • Headache
  • Occasional waves of upset tummy.

I really REALLY want to continue vaping. I have great gear but I think it's the e-juice that is the problem. And that I might have a VG or PG allergy. :(

So, 2 things:

#1. I'm looking for nicotine juices that are either all VG or all PG (if there is such a thing as all PG juices) to try to see which is the one I'm having a reactions to ...

#2. I'm looking for a Canadian e-juice supplier that produces juices that don't taste like chemicals or leave a chemically aftertaste.

It's kind of scary -- I sooooo don't want to go back to real cigarettes, but I'm struggling with these side effects, and the taste of juices I just can't tolerate.

Any recommendations, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hi Ira - thanks. :)

You know, it's funny ... I'm also on a healthy eating regime set up by my nutritionist. Part of my program is to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. I'm now drinking 4!!! ... Which is, according to her and, in my opinion - not a bad idea.

I also should mention - I'm Canadian - and would prefer to order my e-juices from Canadian e-juice suppliers, only ... (I'd rather not run the risk of getting my package held at the border) ...

First off Welcome to ECF.

Vaping dehydrates you. You need to be sure you are getting plenty of fluids. Nausea, headaches, could still be signs of nic od. It still happens to me now and then even after 2 months.

There are some vendors that offer you a choice of pg/vg ratio's including 100% pg or vg.

Heathers Hevenly Vapes is one of those vendors. I have never ordered from there so I can't speak for their juice quality but, it gets great reviews from many members here. There are other vendors that do this as well I just can't think of them off the top of my head. Most vendors I deal with personally have house blends usually 60/40 or 50/50.

As far as Canadian suppliers I am not sure. You might check in the Canadian Forums to see what there. You wont be able to post there till you have 5 posts here in new members.

Good luck don't give up.

Hi Cora and welcome to the forum. Well I'm not a very experienced vaper, not by a long shot. However, perhaps a few tips will help you out.

Try to find US or Canada made juice. I'm sure there are good Chinese juices out there but call me paranoid I don't trust the imports. It may help if there is a B&M in your area. Naturally I don't know what B&Ms are around in Toronto, but I'm sure a vaper from your area will chime in eventually. I got lucky that someone from my area chimed in and recommended a place that she goes to. I had a very good experience there and will be going back.

Dry Nose and sinus...that can be a symptom of not using the analogs. Generally speaking by not smoking and vaping instead your mucus membranes in your nose, throat and sinuses will begin to clear up. This can take a week or a month sometimes longer. Depends on the person, how long they smoked, and many other factors, basically everyone's different. That said PG and VG are both humicants and pull water from your tissues while vaping. I would suggest drinking more water.

Dry lips and dehydration. Again drink more water. PG and VG are both humicants and pull water from your body. Drinking more water will help with this. If nothing else it will flush your kidneys.

Upset tummy. I had this a couple of times when I was first starting out too. I was using NJoy kings basically to prove to myself that vaping is a real alternative to smoking. However, I found that I don't really like vaping on an empty stomach. So eating should help with this. I don't know if it will work for you, I was a pretty heavy pipe smoker so it may not.

Headache. That one is a tough one. Headaches can be caused by many things. Over dosing on nic, under dosing on nic, dehydration, and the absence any of the other 2,999 that are in tobacco smoke in your vape could be the culprits.

As to the juices, I'm still pretty new to vaping myself so hopefully someone more experienced than I will be along.

Best wishes.
Abe

I'm also new but here's my $0.05 (have to round it up since we lost the penny, eh! ;)

I ordered my supplies from *********. I've tried their Canadian Tobacco, Irish Cream, and Mocha flavours. I don't find their juices taste chemical-ly at all; they taste great to me (especially the Irish Cream). Note that if you do order from them, you need to do it over the phone (otherwise your juices won't contain any nicotine).

They are a US vendor, but Johnson Creek has a line of 100% PG and a line of 100% VG. But some other vendors will let you choose whatever ratio you want. I had to do this too at the beginning to rule out sensativity. Turns out it was the nicotine I was sensative to.

Yanno - I had never considered that it could actually be the nicotine that I'm sensitive too. (lol) ...

thanks for that - it's quite possible that's it!

You may want to edit your post because you can get the vendor in trouble. As far as I know, e-juice with nicotine is still illegal to sell in Canada.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, too--I definitely don't want to get anyone in trouble, so I've removed the link. Hopefully Cora jotted it down before I removed it! :)
