new 510 user needs help with vapor consistency

Hi,

I've been at this for about 2 months. I've scoured the forums and gotten some great tips, such as buying the 510, and getting bulk juice and blank carts vs prefilled. But all this time into it, and trying different things, my vapor production is either inconsistent or annoyingly inconsistent, depending upon the day.

I've tried:
prefilled - awesome for the first 5-8 puffs
filling my own - all over the place
topping off - even that doesn't guarantee a good vape
dripping - never got this to work well and watched videos on how to do this
washing filler material - I think this has helped, then I'll take a newly washed, nicely filled cart, and get little vape

I would guess that my atomizers were dying if they didn't occasionally tease me with monster vape.

Again, this forum is loaded with tips, and I've tried many of them.

So, there's something I'm missing - maybe some key tactic? Or maybe I should just get a different device? I feel that the lack of good vape means I take more, longer, less satisfying hits, which kills batteries etc.

Anyhow - thanks either way!
Mike

PTB is a must. Healthy clean atty helps a lot. I mix VG into my PG juices, increases the vapor alot (although i think it causes atties to get more residue). I also swap my batteries out of my pcc fairly often to ensure the highest amount of charge. Also, the ptb tends to get kind of worn fairly fast so i like to pull it out, clean and reroll it, or replace it every few days.

The 510 is definitely a tricky device but I guess its just the least worst option we have right now.

My 510 is still great with it's original parts after a month, a few tips that I've picked up:

* The Pyramid Tea Bag mod is a must
* Use VG, we use a 25-50% mix of VG to PG mix depending on what we're vaping at the time, it's actually amazing how much difference even 25% VG makes on the vapor.
* Keep the atomizer wet
* Blow out the atomizer once a week or if you get a burnt taste (I blow into the cart side with a paper towel on the other side until no more liquid comes out) then add 3 drops to the atomizer bridge and top up your cart.
* Top up often, I top up frequently, my cart will usually only take 2-3 drops when I top up.
* Change your batteries often, draining lithium ion batteries dry is actually not good for them.

These are just things I've picked up, I rarely get a bad hit of my 510, hope it helps.

I just received my 510 in the mail and I'm INSANELY ANXIOUS to try it out!!! The manual says the batt must charge for 8 hours even if the light turns green.

Does anyone know if I can use it sooner than 8 hours without harming the battery?

I'm stuck at work and my roommate picked it up from the mailbox and is charging it. I almost .... myself when she said it was here.

Any help would be much appreciated!! THANK YOU!

One thing I am not clear on, and you don't say, is: Have you been using the same kit, attys and batteries for 2 months? Or have you replaced attys and batteries all along and still not getting good throat hit/vapor?

If by chance it is the same kit, you need to get new parts.

Add: I say this because you make it sound as if your origional kit (PV) has never worked well for you. But if you have replaced an atty or battery and still poor performance then it is something else. You certainly should be over the largest learning curve in 2 months if all was working properly. And, more likely than not, you would be happy with the preformance or have upgraded to a mod if the vapor/throat hit was not enough for you??? Let us know??

Lithium Ion batteries do not require an 8 hour charge. Plug your battery into the charger, when the light goes green vape away.

Misty, thank you so much! This is my first PV and I'm so ridiculously pumped about it. I've been hooked on this forum since I started looking and I can't wait to get vaping!!

You VAPERS are all amazing, thanks again!

If when the vapor starts significantly decreassing (which you say frequently?) you are only able to refill with 2/3 drops your cart fibers near the atty are covered with thickened liquid (it happens from the heat of the atty). It stops the batting fiber from absorbing liquid. You are vaping with a cartridge like you would be dripping (which only takes 2/3 drops.) The idea of the cartridge is to give you longer vaping than 2/3 drops worth time. But dripping 2/3 drops gives cleaner flavor and saves the hassle of always cleaning/refilling/replacing carts.

Try this to see if that is what is happening to you. When the vapor is significantly decreased and you need to refill. Put in your regular 2/3 drops in the same cart you were using. Then..with tweesers, pull out the fiber, turn it around, and put it back in. NOW..put some more drops in. How many does it take? You should be able to put alot more drops in, if so you need to clean/refill/replace the cart.:)

Welcome to ECF Marissa. I see you already have the answer. Let us know how you like your new PV or have any other questions.

Thanks - and wow - what a helpful bunch!

It never provided constistent vapor. Though every now and then, now for example, I get a cart/fill that vapes like gangbusters. I try to figure out what it is about this particular fill that's so great. I'm getting there. I think it has to do with the airflow, and the way the filling brushes against the atty wick. Or something.

Will check out the ptb mod and/or straw mod for kicks.

In spite of my problems, it has done its job in ridding me of the 5-10 marlboro's I needed to get through the average day, along with making it easier to hide my smoking from my young kids (such a pain to wait until they went to bed, then sneak out in the rain, snow etc, then wash hands and breath in case they wake up).

The side benefit to weak vape was that I could easily vape away on a recent Boston-LA flight. Some fancy handwork and no one was the wiser.

Thank you Agnes!! I LOVE my 510! It's fantastic! I smoked an analog after I'd been vaping for about an hour, to see the difference. I can't believe how "dirty" it tasted! I'm truly amazed.

I do have a couple of questions... I know that throat burning may be a result of an allergic reaction to the PG-based liquid, but is there also a chance that it's just my throat getting used to the vapor?

I have a friend who's interested and asked the question: "Doesn't the nicotine condense in the lungs?" I have NO idea, but said I'd throw it out to you guys.

Any input is valued! I'm so excited to be part of this "movement" -- I think it's fantastic!

    Somewhere between here and there
How close together are you taking draws? I have noticed on the 510 that when the atty gets really hot that it does not produce near as much vapor. I don't know if it's the 510 or the liquid but it is something that I have noticed. I sometimes add a little VG to some of my liquids and that seems to help some.

    Marissa:

Many have found that it does sometimes take some getting use to, (throat wise.) Try drinking after vaping, drinking before bed. Sucking on a hard candy was suggested before too. You can search for past threads on sore throat (way back last year), look for threads by Kate. She was very vocal on this subject.

And your other question,.. nicotine dissipates pretty quickly in your system and blood stream. I am no doctor, but you can also search and find alot more information. Search for nicotine absorbtion.

Hope this helps a little, Glad to hear you are liking your new PV. I'm sure you will do fine.

Just a suggestion, but try the new Brass Screen Mod. I'm on day two of using it, and it's just friggin' amazing. I vape my 510 completely dry before I have to refill it. Tons of vapor, and great taste the entire way through the cart. I recommend using the version rhoneil posted and showed pics of.
