I'm a 510 fan. It's my daily vape and I have it performing in such a way that I know a KR808D-1 can never compete (yes, I have a KR....).

But that being said.... I will NEVER recommend a 3-piece to a new vaper. I've done it, I've tried it, and I'm not going to do it again. Recommend a unit to somebody and you then own all of their learning curve and technical issues for the rest of your life! And when/if they fail.. it's your fault!

That's playing it smart. I bought both types so I'll know for myself which I prefer. I have a feeling that I will like certain aspects of each type.

@ Dave ... good post. I was wondering too if I would miss the "feel" of a real cigarette, and I think I would. Not that I can't overcome that if there's enough benefits. I hope that I'm able to at least cut way down on real cigarettes.

sbucciarel,

Grats on both devices. Win win!

If you have the free time would you post your thoughts on which is better for you and why?

Its interesting to see the new user's perspective. Most of the reviewers either don't compare the device to another device or if they do its something i've never used.

There is also a lot of loyalty to vendors here. This is usually a good thing of course, but it doesn't allow us to judge A vs. B. We only know that both A and B have loyal fans.

Kurt that was hilarious! (510)

I just took the plunge (402) and am, so far, very pleased with it. I was a 2-pack/day smoker and altho I haven't completely given up the analogs since I got my 402 on Friday (not loving the juice I got with the kit, am waiting for samples to arrive), I've gone from 2-pack/day to about a half a pack, and it's been completely painless. I kinda think the ones I am still smoking, it's less actually wanting them than out of some kind of psychological pull. The 402 is satisfying in a lot of the same ways, and in some ways, much more so!
I, too, was a two pack a day smoker. Got my Vapor King last Friday, and I still smoke about half a pack a day.
Warning: when I first got the VK, I coughed and choked! I just didn't get the hang of it at first. But now I love it, and I am now experimenting with what flavors I like. That's seems to change daily, ouch.
Don't give up right away, and don't do what I did, I was coughing so I went WAY low with the nicotine level in my second order. I will use them eventually, but right now, I need the higher levels. There is a learning curve for some of us!:p

Suzanne, I am new at this so I'd best let the experts answer your questions. But yes it is wise to start with a strength that will suffice your need which I didn't do. Now I have a lot of lower strength that just won't cut it so I'm doing analogs too. They can be stored through for about a year though they loose their flavors. One thing I did do is buy sample sizes in flavors so your not out a lot if you just don't like one or adding another flavor to it doesn't help it any.

I got some tobacco flavored, yet I only used it when I lost my sense of taste for a while (read that happens here). After 37 years of smoking with the last 20 on the heavy side I sure didn't miss the taste of tobacco in these one bit. I never tried flavored cigarettes thinking they would be terrible, but in e-cigs it's not at all.

So I suggest not buying a whole lot of tobacco flavor at the start and try some of the sample size flavored ones. I have 10ml of tobacco I'll probably only end up using by mixing it in with other flavors to sluff it off.

I also started out with a manuel and the button thing has been no big deal to me. I also found the Passthroughs are great so I have made mine to where it plugs into an AC outlet, car outlet and even a battery backup. Now if I can just get the right strenght juice I'll be leaving the analogs way behind and pounding on my government not to ban them.

I agree with the above posters. it seems everyone is a little different on juice needs. You'll have to find out for yourself what you best number is.

You'd think "full flavored" cigarettes would have more nicotine but thats not always true. It also depends on how you smoke and how you vape.

I found 18mg too low. I now use 24mg which seems to do the trick unless I go more than 90 minutes without. I turn into the Hulk and want to smash things then. :D

For me it takes more vaping to beat a craving or withdraw than smoking. This has improved over time though. I'm not sure if 24mg is much better than 18mg or if I've just gotten used to the e-cig. With 18mg I was really vaping hard to avoid the cigarettes.

How to draw takes a little practice also. I've started to get the hang of it and now know how to get stronger vapor, lighter vapor, or even no vapor / stealth vape. I can also better avoid the rough throat feeling.

I've been trying to save money lately so I'm not buying all the equipment I'd like to try. Looking back I hate to think of all those $40+ trips to the gas station every week. I probably could have bought a small car for $160 a month.

Gooney, yep from what I have read 2+pack a day smokers need 24mg. I went from 16mg to 18mg and now realize I needed the 24mg. Still haven't avoided those nasty hits yet here, but I can put up with that since I have gotten my sense of smell back some and not coughing or hacking up stuff as much. All of that happened in just a few days of use for me.

Guess I should have read backwards in posts.
I started with a 3pc 510 silver and later found it in blue so I bought it in my favorite color also. So far I haven't used the batteries as much since the PT's (passthroughs) works best and don't drain down. When I go shopping I take the 510 3pc to use while I'm out of the car and have the PCC so a second one stays charged. Yes you do have to mess with filling the carts on the 510 but to me they are far more easier to fill than a cartomizer which I have only messed with doing once. I bought a 2pc 510 PT to try out cartomizers. They do seem to last longer, but given the cost vs. how long they last plus trash they create I just haven't made a decision on them yet. An atomizer you can clean up sounds better in the long run to me, but I haven't had any die on me yet.

I'd have to agree though to start out unless your okay with refilling and cleaning the 2pc is better since the cartomizers seem to last a little longer. The one thing I didn't try is an automatic, that way I definately feel the battery isn't being drained down when I'm not using it unless the button is pressed against something while carrying it. So far I haven't had that happen.
