I have been interested in E cigs for about a year, at that time I did not realize they were even available here. My son went to the mall last week and said they were selling some at a kiosk. So I went online, found Blu and ordered, I found this site the next day and read of all of the problems. I went to the mall, they were selling Smoking Everywhere and honestly I did not want to pay 180 bucks to start, so I orderd a Joye 510 the other day.

My concern is this... Now that we found e cigs, and can possibly save some money (hubby and I are both smokers), what the heck is happening with them? Can someone please level with me about what is going on with this FDA stuff...I have done some reading but am not quite sure I understand (being blonde and all LOL - no offense to other blondes). If we get this next week and decide we like it... are we going to be able to get cartridges anymore? Are we going to have to hide e cigs like we have to hide regular cigs, cause we are second class citizen smokers? Should I hurriedly order another 510 and tons of cartridges to see us through? I only ordered one, not sure I can get hubby to try it.

Thanks in advance

Many of us enjoy these enough that we are stocking up because no on really knows what's going to happen. More than likely they will end up on the market in a controlled more expensive form in the future, but from now until then it's all pretty unclear. The big issue is SE vs. FDA case that is in court right now. That will set the tone for the future.

(juice is much cheaper than cartridges and if U have enough atomizer's you can build batteries and reuse cartridges)

p.s. .........since I received my e-cig.... IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII have become...comfortably numb

Thanks so much for the reply....
if we get this on Tuesday and like it... we better get back on line and order I guess.
I was thinking of buying the liquid too, mentioned it to hubby he said he would not want to bother with that (old and set in his ways LOL).

OK making my list... lots of cartridges, another Joye 510...a PCC or two, some blank cartridges and a bottle of the liquid stuff...

It never fails, we find something we like, and our government has to get in and ruin it... geesh. Are they just upset cause they are not taxing them yet, like they are analogs?

That's exactly correct.............cigarettes were legal for a reason.(mo money, mo money, mo money)

30ml of liquid lasts around 2-4 weeks on average,FYI

Thank you both...

I am looking forward to getting the 510...I have read some of the info, but will definitely being checking out more of it. I will probably need some help when we get it LOL.

I hope hubby loves it and it works out, it would be great paying only a buck or two a pack versus the 6 or 7 bucks we are paying now. He retired (too young) his smoking has increased since he has been home, and our income has decreased LOL.

thanks again

Buy it anyhow. If you guys go through anywhere near 2-3 packs of analogs each day you will probably go through pre-filled cartridges (on a 510 at least, that's the only thing I have "experience" with) at VERY close to one cart per hour.

I've only been doing this since Thursday afternoon but I've been paying a lot of attention to consumption rates and if I hadn't ordered a bottle of juice with my starter kit I'd be out of cartridges already, and I have four packs of pre-filled, and it's only Saturday afternoon.

So from one noob to another, buy juice, and be smarter than me and get more than one bottle with your first order so you don't have to turn around and pay shipping on a second order 24 hours later. :)

OK thank you... I did just place another order for more cartridges, another kit for me (so we don't have to share) and a PCC...I will see how we like it first, and order more cartridges and a few bottles next week.

I thought the cartridges on the 510 were supposed to be the equivalent of about 15 - 20 cigs. Was I wrong? If they only last an hour it won't be much cheaper than analogs.
Maybe I am on info overload and just confusing everything... it happens LOL.

There's a lot of marketing hype surrounding cart capacity versus analogue cigarettes. It depends on a lot of factors, including how deeply you draw on the PV, how many drags you typically take off an analogue, what level nicotine you're using and so forth.

Personally, I take a far larger drag off the PV than I did off a cigarette. With a well filled cart and good fluid I can get what I'd consider the equivalent of about 5 to 7 cigarettes per cart load. If I took far smaller drags, I might be able to convince myself I was getting closer to 15 per cart, but the experience wouldn't be as satisfying.

Basically, you're going to need to refill the carts more frequently than you were lead to believe at first. That's just a hazard of using a PV. The seller wants you to think the cart is going to last forever. Only your real world experience will tell you how long they last for you personally.

All manufacturers exaggerate the cart-to-pack ratio... In reality, a cartridge is probably equal to 5-7 cigarettes... Depending on how you smoke, and what level of nicotine you're using...

Like your husband, I also thought that re-filling carts would be too much of a PITA to consider, but you really get more bang for your buck, and it's really not that big of a hassle.

Argh! Ok, thank you both...

Hubby smokes about 2-3 packs of Marlboro lights a day, just switched to pall mall orange 100's cause he thinks he is getting more that way LOL.
He does take pretty big, deep drags. I better order more for him then...

I on the other hand smoke Capri (~hanging head in shame~), I take fairly small drags, and go thru about a pack and a half a day.
My biggest concern, is getting used to the size, I am going to feel like I am smoking a huge cigar.

Can you just top off the existing filled cartridges, or do you need to buy the blank ones?

Thank you all for your help...

The 510 produces a lot of vapor and the trade off is that it goes through more liquid. You were right to order more carts so that you have more to refill, but ordering some liquid is definitely the way to go. 510 carts are one of the easiest to refill and liquid is a lot less expensive with a much wider choice of flavors. 30ml is less than $20 and lasts me over 2 weeks. Try that on analogs!

Trapped within my imagination
As for stock piling( with the FDA in mind)...If I were you, just starting out.. I'd order your starter kit and a bottle small bottle of e-liquid... Go watch spikeys video (comprehensive intro to vaping!) < that will answer so many of your questions..Then find the subforum for the 510 on here ( I don't know how to link, sorry) and start reading...I doubt your hubby will sit here and read the forums (smile) So you gets to be teacher lol..Master it pretty good, then approach him ( have him taste your different flavors though so you know what hes leaning towards)....

Lets see, next I'd probably order one or two sample packs of different e-liquid flavors... Half the battle is narrowing down a few flavs you really like ( fruity/coffees/sweet tobacco/ or non sweet tobaccos/ etc " and what mg strength is best"...Altsmoke has a sample pack right now..I think 8 flavors for 15.99..Johnson Creek has one

By now you should have your flavor/s you like and know your PV and ready to start stock piling at least enough to cut down analogs/quit them/or vape for a long while without fear of it being taken away....

After you have a modest supply of batteries and each a PCC...I'd then place a few large orders (best deal- yes, china is less expensive if doing a large order even with the high shipping)..Although, there are some reasonable places to order from here if you prefer, as well.... As to what to order....Personally, I really think we'll be able to get e-cig parts..Theyll just be labeld different .. but, just to be safe as someone said.. buy atomizers ( it's the only part that someone cant make here) I think e-liquid will be what they hit hardest...So concentrate most on your atomizer/e-liquid stock pile ( throwing in a battery here n there)

And yes, you just top off your existing cart ( eventually taking out the filler, rinse under hot water, squeeze in towel, restuff in cart and refill with your liquid < also in spikeys video)

ok..That's done....Go buy a new toy and start over! lol
