Hello and welcome to the forum. Have you primed your coils before hitting from it? You need to saturate your wick BEFORE you fire it or you'll burn your wicking material and it will taste burnt from that point on.

Hi thanks for the rapid reply im not sure what priming really is can you explain

I am not familiar with the Protank 3. Priming the wick is a common practice with any tank. On some models you put a drop of juice or 2 directly on the wick in the coil.

The manner I would recommend is : On other models you can prime the wick by filling the tank and covering the air holes while taking a draw or two WITHOUT power to suck juice into the wick. Then you let the tank sit for 5 minutes so the wick can draw juice naturally into the coil. That way the wick in the coil doesn't get burnt when you start to vape.

Once you burn a wick you need to replace the coil. It's toast and will always give a bad vape.

It would also help to know just what coils you're using, Feron. Are they the OCCs? If so, you may have burned the cotton and that taste NEVER goes away. What resistance (0.8, 1.2, 1.8, etc.) are the coils? It says in tiny print on the side of each coil. OR, you may have the wattage on your iStick set too high. What wattage/voltage are you using?

The istick 30w has a power range of 2v ~ 8v & 5w ~ 30w.
It uses PWM below 8ish watts which may be effecting your vape @ 5w.
IMO, prostanks are very unreliable finicky delivery devices, to me it sounds like it is time to upgrade to a delivery device that can take advantage of or at least function well with your new power device.

The istick 30 simply ups the voltage to put out at least 5 watts... actually a Protank 3 should do 9-13 watts, except for the exposed wick coil units which did usually burn. If the tank has ever had a big burn vaped through, it might need a good washing out and even maybe a day airing out to get the stink out.

Not sure what's going on Feron, an istick is a battery unit and a protank is a tank atomizer/clearomizer, neither work alone. The istick may have been packed in with their iSub, which is good 15-25 watts not 30.

Normally, the tank & battery combination is to blame.
However, in this case, the 30w iStick should be able to vape at low enough power to not suffer bad tastes/dry hits/nasty vapes.
In reality, I never had a single good vape from either the mini or regular Protank 3's and it's not like I'm short of batteries to use them on. I threw them away, actually.
I did keep all the version 1 and 2 ones though... they were single coil and now work well with the new SOCC coils.
