Hello, I got interested when a friend told me she "has an electronic cigarette" and I started thinking about it and would rather not step out in the heat or cold all the time to smoke. Rather not stink up my car. Read some posts here, sounded cheaper (eventually) also. So I went down to the convenience store and bought a disposable today. I had planned to order something rechargeable. I have been reading on the forum for several days and am thoroughly confused. I just don't have enuf disposable income to buy a system, not like it and buy another :-( Wish I did. So I thought "tray a disposable, what if you don't even like it?" Well I tried the njoy "Bold" 4.8 (or something) which I saw mentioned in a forum here. In truth only that and Blu were at the corner store.

Here is my "problem". I feel like I have to totally SUCK on it like I have a cigarette with a "super block" filter or something. It is unpleasant. I'm thinking "I might as well be sucking on a piece of wood" for all the 'pleasure' it brings me :-( I usually smoke Marlboro (red, regular) and don't have to "suck" to get some smoke. Is this only me and this brand (njoy)? Or will a rechargeable be the same way <sigh>? I really would prefer this (gaping) to the stink and cost of the cigarettes, but now am wondering. Maybe I would just need direction on what type of kit/brand to buy so I am not having to "work" at "getting anything." Thanks so much for your awesome forum. I have already learned so much and had my finger on the button to start with 10 "flings" before I decided to try a "convenience store" one today. PHX

I think you may have gotten a bad one. I will occasionally grab me an NJoy menthol to vape when going out and don't want to carry the weight of my mod around. They have always been great for me. I don't have to pull on them any harder than anything else. Maybe try another one.

But if you don't want to spend another $8 on an NJoy then check out a cheap Ego starter kit. Fasttech (I know-I know) usually have amazingly cheap deals on them if you can wait the two weeks for shipping. Even if you find one in the states you could easily get a small rig started for the cost of a carton of cigarettes.

Good luck. Hope you can get it worked out.

The disposables never worked for me....for a cheap set up try this http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=5...&afftrack=&urllink=www.fasttech.com/p/1368502 with a few sample packs of juice for less than the cost of a carton of smokes. It is a bottom feeding tank with easy and cheap replacement atomizors...a good first set up for beginners...I got these for my daughters and sisters to help them quit (or at least decrease the smokes).

Well the disposables are IMO just horrible. Their so hit or miss. Alot of the big questions you need to ask yourself at first is some that i asked myself.

1: What do you want? < The hardest to answer
2: Main reason for wanting it?
3: Do you want something big or something small?
5: Do you want something that comes pre-filled or something re-fillable?
4: Do i really want to quit smoking? < most important. And just don't consider this to a money saving alt.

So me i wanted something small not like some of these mods i seen that look like mag lites lol. Ig i wanted to carry a baton and have protection to beat someone down with i would invest in a big mod lol. ( no offense to you all that use them and sure in this hobby i wil probably sooner or later own one :p )

So i called a B&M vape store talked to a nice guy and got myself into a E-Smart stater kit and haven't looked back since. Not a bad starter kit it's small not a simulated cig battery small but yet not ego battery big nicely in the middle. The clearos work nice have a airy light draw and are cheap and re-fillable which is the way to go as juices are low in price.

But here is the draw back of the vaping experience IMO. You start out small find that you quit smoking using lower nic juice awesome great. Then oh wow a new tank or battery hmmmmmm. <<<<< And that's the point you realize you no longer smoke and have picked up a new hobby lol.

Well, disposables and Blu are lousy compared to other options out there. Here are the two starter kits I recommend. The first is slightly easier to fill, but both are very easy to use and inexpensive. You can also get juice at Fasttech, just search for Liqua - that is the best brand they carry and, is also very cheap.

$17.87 EGO-AS 6-in-1 USB Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarettes Health Keeping Set - black / US plug adapter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

$23.66 EGO-WP 6-in-1 Pen Style Rechargeable 1300mAh Electronic Cigarette Health Keeping Set - black / US plug adapter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Thank you, Syeroc and KjAthena, I guess I will start with that. the "decision" to buy a kit has had my head whirling. I have read in this forum for several days before joining to post today--and the advice is quite awesome but also overwhelming. I even watched someone's youtube link on a silly video "stages of vaping" or something like that. LOL, I saw "myself" in that "I just want something that looks like a cigarette" as a beginner! I am now in my 60s and do realize that when starting a new hobby, interest etc, one eventually "outgrows" the silly ideas of a beginner. I am <whew> so glad for you guys here.

So are you two (I know there will be more comments) saying that perhaps a "disposable" is not for me? I got kinda interested in all the flavors available on the "Flings" mentioned in another thread (on sale $30 for 10 disposables) but hate to waste $30. I imagine I can "waste" $20 plus shipping on this small eGo kit!

I was trying to think what my first vaping experience was akin to--and years ago when I wanted to cut back I got some ultra-light and couldn't get any "smoke" off it :-( I ended up cutting most of the fliter off and it was "better" lol If it is true that the disposables require a lot of "sucking" to even get any smoke at all, and a kit like you point me to is "the way" for me then I suppose I will just have to wait a couple weeks to see. <sigh> "all dressed up, nowhere to go" PHX

PhoenixD if your looking at those ego/evod on fasttech and really dont want to wait the time for shipping. Vapedojo has this deal which i think is a hell of a deal specially for the mini protanks alone.

Kanger Mini Protank Starter Kit

Also if ya buy some juices to get yourself going and get above 50 dollars shipping is free. it's a little extra to spend but a well shorter shipping wait.

I started out w/disposables & found they were all crap. The worst was a Metro brand I swear didn't work at all. Suck as hard as you can & get nothing. I thought the thing was dead. I got the Metro as a starter kit which had 5 extra cartridges for $20 & the worst purchase I ever made.
Then I researched a bunch on ECF & wound up getting a KGO kit [Ego like] from Hoosier Vaping for about $40. What a difference it made. I still use it regularly along with the huge Vamo I also have that I got that a couple months ago. It's definitely a full size PV.

Even though the KGO is a fixed 3.7 volt it still works like a champ. Many will tell you to get VV or VW which is what my Vamo does.
Although my Vamo is my primary PV it's too big to easily take out & about. The Vamo was from Fasttech in China so you have to wait for the shipping.
I still would recommend the KGO kit. It's been a workhorse for many, many months. I alternate between the two.
It's leaps & bounds above any disposable out there. It also got great reviews from P Bsuardo on Tasteyourjuice.com [look for the KGO video]. The KGO only needs some liquid to get going. Hoosier Vapes sells liquid too.

Have a look at those two.
I used disposables until my KGO arrived. I was just so glad to quit wasting money on them. They simply don't work very well at all.
Just my 2 cents.

Or go with the kits mentioned above. I'm sure they are all similar.

BTW, I hear the Njoy & white cloud are the best among disposables. Everything else is just more or less a waste of $$.

Thank you so much for the questions, ChaotikDreamz I actually did sit down and write out answers to each! Very helpful. I am not real sure I want to get into "refilling things from a tank" and fiddling with wicks and stuff like some people mention. So I would like something that is "easy to draw on", I can "switch/try new flavors" (in cartridges?). Of course things could change in the future....u know how hobbies go. But is this eGo kit a couple people mentioned, do I have to fill my own cartridges? Or is there a beginner kit where I would get some pre filled? BTW, thanks to your questions I now assume I would not be "saving money" by doing this instead of smoking. I am just thinking I might enjoy it more, or enjoy it separately...and also not smell like an ashtray :D

So I guess now I have figured out I am looking for something easy to draw on and exhale "smoke" and I don't have to sit at a table like a model train builder with a bunch of tools and paper towels and magnifying eye glasses. I am willing to wait a couple weeks if that's what I have to do, to get something less expensive that I would enjoy for a while (till I move up)....

Research would be your best bet now. There are so many choices out there it's amazing. I would look in to legitimate reviews.
Do some searching on Google & Youtube.
Sorry I couldn't be of any help. I'm not familiar with the cig a likes or disposables.
At first I just bought a bunch of different disposables to give me an idea if vaping was for me & buy me some time to make a good decision.

Good luck & congratulations on your decision to give it a try.

I see you're from Austn. There is a really good vape store down there, more than one actually. Nice to go in and check stuff out, get an idea of how something feels in the hand. Peace Pipe has knowledgable, helpful staff and I'm sure they can answer some questions for you.

Oh thanks, ghola1was, I did stop in 1 store 2day! It was called "Ion Vape" and I didn't know about others. I will look up Peace Pipe and try it tomorrow. I felt "out of my league" in the Vape store. I was told where it was, and didn't know it was an exclusive vaping store, so it had bunches of little bottles and glass cases and about 2-3 groups of women asking about this or that to the store person. I had no idea what to ask! So I just left, lol. R U in Hamilton City that is on the way from Austin/Lampassas/going north to Wichita Falls? I used to go that route ALL THE TIME when my best friend used to live in Wichita Falls. I shoulda waved at you! You are "out in the boonies" over there, lovely country!

Phoenix, once you get in fifteen posts, you'll be able to use the PM system on here. Shoot me a message with your address and I can probably mail you an eGo/charger combo with some pre-filled 510 cartos to try out. It's a huge step up from disposables and cigalikes, I've used all of 'em plus a few 'mod' devices and the eGos are pretty much where it's at for ease of use and portability, without sacrificing power and effectiveness.

Personally I love this kit, mini_tornado_kit_all.jpgTornado Mini RCS Blister Kit (but there are cheaper ones out there) I've been vaping going on 3 months and I still prefer stuff like this ... I like simple and easy......

also I found this lil pic hoping it would help you see how easy re-filling the tanks really are... I remember when I 1st started thinking about e-cigs, I was also apprehensive about filling the tanks, but now I know how easy it really is so it's all good :)

Clearomizer Fill Instructions Pic2.jpg

Well good luck, in the long run it will be so worth the effort you're putting out :)
