Nicotine - Equivalent strengths - Disposable ecig v cigarettes

Hi all

About to buy first ecig and going disposable for starters. Buying the White CLoud Mini Fling. - as i cant get the njoy Kings in Australia, per my previous thread.

I cant get a handle on how to compare the nic strengths of the disposables to my cigarette habit.

Since i relapsed, i smoke 12mg smokes and have up to 5 cigs per day. for me throat hit is key and i dont know the relative effect of inhaling nicotine by vapeing v smoking.

I will smoke it like a smoke - 10 puffs or whatever and put it away. not vaping continuously.

If i like the throat hit of a 12 mg cig - what strength mini fling should I get ?

And flavours - is the Fling Regular the closest thing to a normal tobacco flavour? I am not interested yet in any flavour too removed from a normal smoke.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Peej.

Because we don't know the relative nicotine absorption rate, and because if we did know, it would vary by technique, it's a non-sequitur. That being said, can recommend 12 -18 mg/ml to start with maybe 75/25 PG/VG ratio. Throat hit is nic content and PG, for the most part. For your smoking habit, the 18 mg will seem high to some, but you mentioned throat hit. Try the higher, make the transition to vaping, move nic down if required. I would order both strengths initially. When the urge hits, it's always nice to have some high nic around. Best to you, good luck and vape on!

First off i am glad you giving vaping another try. WC flings are excellent disposables. I would recommend a mixture of the different strengths, as everyone is different. Myself, I was a former Newport smoker, so I needed stronger nic levels. I can vape 24mg pretty much all day, but sometimes when I need a "quick fix" a XXtra fling (54mg) gets it done. Since you say that you vape like you smoked, I would say that either the extra 36 mg (my favorite) or the XXtra. Smoking analogs delivers nicotine to the system faster than vaping due to the added chemicals, so keep in mind that if you vape using the same "smoking ritual" a comparable nic level just by the numbers may not satisfy. To find what works best for you I would get a couple in each of the higher strengths (assuming you are purchasing a multipack).

Also, I just wanted to mention that the mini flings don't last very long. From experience the regular flings last quite awhile, particularly if not vaping constantly. Since they cost the same, you get "more bang with your buck" with the regular flings. Just my 2 cents.

Regarding flavor, I am not sure that any eJuice flavor matches analog tobacco exactly, but taste is subjective. Having tried the flings, I can say that if you smoke a full flavored tobacco, I would recommend regular, Bora Bora or Apache (or better yet a combination of the three to find your favorite).

IMO the issue you're gonna run into with the fling minis besides the high cost is short battery life and weak throat hit.
Smoking and vaping have very little in common when it comes to nic delivery and frequency of use. It's very hard to guess what someone else will like / need, getting a variety of flavors and nic strengths is probably your best bet.
Because you currently smoke so few cigarettes per day now they might just do the trick.

54 mgs??-----WOW! And I thought 12 to 18 (for me) was pretty high. I can see that you're a power house.

LOL. I guess it just takes more to satisfy the nic cravings. :) I don't vape 54 mg a lot, because it is crazy high. 2 or 3 puffs and I'm good for awhile. For all day, I stay around 24mg. For those times when I can't vape a lot, having the high nic comes in handy.

Hey peej, Giving vaping another chance is the BEST thing you could ever do for yourself aside from full on quitting. The mini flings are like the Blu's and Njoy's etc. (I call these "half hitters") I call them 'half hitters' because they usually only give just over half the hit of the tank or dripping devices. The 'half hitters' are only nice because they have the size and look of a cancer stick BUT, they're not so nice because the hit is a bit too weak to be a sufficient replacement of a cigarette and the batteries have such a short life that leads to frustration and eventually giving up on vaping. MY advice for a MUCH better beginner start with e-cigs would be to go with a nice simple eGo starter kit (preferably with the EVOD clearomizer included instead of the CE4). I smoked full flavored Marlboro's for 30yrs., for me, the best nicotine strength for the transition was 36mg. (you will get the throat hit you're looking for). a regular tobacco or a RY4 tobacco would be the best start-up flavors. only get a small amount at 1st because 36mg will start to give too harsh a throat hit within 2-3 weeks. So, after 2-3 weeks, your e-liquid order should be 24mg because the 36mg will quickly become too much throat hit once you vape more regular. 24mg will be good for about a month or so before the throat hit will begin to be somewhat too much again. At this time you will probably want to drop to 18mg. Full favor cigs are equivalent to 18mg e-liquid so, if you smoke full flavor, you will probably be very satisfied with 18mg for the rest of your vaping usage. If you are a "Lights" smoker, then you will most likely find 18mg to start having too much throat hit within a couple weeks. At that time, you will want to drop to 8mg which is the everyday usage equivalent to "Light" cancer stix. I highly recommend going with no more than 3 different flavors while going through the first 2-3 months of changing from old cigs to e-cigs. Once you reach the comfort zone of balancing out your nicotine level and understanding how to maintenance your vaping device THEN try lots of flavors and you will find out how much multiple flavors are SO MUCH more enjoyable than the singular flavor of your old NASTY "tobacco filled paper tube of death". Hope this helps. VAPE ON ! ! !

hi everyone

thanks for the really quick and wide range of responses (this must be the most fast-moving forum i have been involved with...). there s a lost of good advice there, especially for when i move away from disposables).

it sounds like an imprecise art to match smoking needs with vaping needs but the best approach is to start with 18 or even 24 mg to achieve throat hit, and work down from there.

I have one other unrelated question - considering my small smoking habit it may take some time to work thru a disposable. is it possible the disposable's liquid may dry out first ? are those ecig containers (i.e. the WC ones of the Njoy ones) effective at preventing drying out ?

I've never had a disposable dry up on me before I finished it, and I've tried both Premium and WC disposables as 'pocket carry' devices when I don't want to hassle with my 808s needing recharging. To answer about your nicotine levels, even with all the other information, I'd start with 24mg/2.4%/High-Ultra-etc. Generally that'll give you a good throat hit if you smoke anything but a menthol flavor, or at least it did for me.
