Hi all! :) I've been looking into vaping for a while now, and after finding this forum today I am pretty sure I am going to go with an Ego. I have never vaped. I am a pretty casual/social smoker, anywhere from 1-5 packs a week depending on my schedule and what I'm doing. I smoke Parliament Menthol Lights. I think I am going to go with a Riva510 Light. My question is: what else do I need to purchase, and how many of each? Atomizer, Cartomizers, oh my! :) There are so many different types etc. I would like to make sure I have everything I need to give it a try! I am also wondering what type of juice would be the best/similar to Parliament Menthol Lights. Thanks for any advice!

Get an eGo starter kit (2 batteries, 2 atomizers, charger, 5 cartridges you will only wind up using once). I would get 10 cartomizers, and most people prefer the LR (low resistance) kind. You will also want about 40 ML of juice. Get a bunch of 5ML sample flavors as you won't know what you like until you try it. That should tide you over for a couple of weeks while you figure it all out. Then you will be needing more juice.

Also, do NOT fill a cartomizer until you know you like the juice. Use cartridges and dripping to sample flavors. You can Google how to drip, fill cartomizers, and everything else e-cig related. IT makes a lot more sense when you're holding one in your hand.

I don't know if i'm allowed to post links on ECF but goto E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings and order the joye ego starter kit. it's $44. and if you enter discount code "coolvapes" you'll get 5% off your entire order. that's where I got mine. and it's been working strong for a month now. I go back every other week and buy several 5ml bottles of liquid. everything you need comes with the starter kit and the only thing I would buy extra might be more empty cartridges. because they can get worn out after a while.

The Riva kits at LF are 3.7v and a great choice. I would not trade it for an Ego. I like have 3.7v, as much voltage as a KR808D-1 slim ecig. I can put an adapter on my Riva and vape my KR8 cartos on it too at the heat I expect.

At Liberty-Flights.com right? Press the 20% off (upper left front page) before shopping so you will be looking at the lowered prices. The kits at that one shop are the only ones known to be all new 3.7v models from the correct manufacturer (vs Ego's 3.4v).

Besides the Lite Bundle, consider the Riva 510 SE black kit with a the 3-click disable/enable of they have any in stock. That would make it safer to pocket.

And I recommend you also get a 510 drip tip and some Boge cartomizers (3 ohm slightly warm, good flavor, easier to learn on. 2 ohms hotter with more hit and use charge faster). If LF is out of the cartos check LiteCigUSA.net, NiteLiteVapor.us, Good Prophets. Boge are the most popular cartos on 510 threaded devices. I would get a 5-pack of each to start (3 ohm and 2 ohm aka LR). I am pretty good at using them but I can get 10 days use out of a Boge pretty easily with thin clear juices.

And of course Eliquid! I recommend 30 ml to start and aim at one nicotine level but buy a bit lower and higher. Cartos like Boge like thinner juices (PG w/ 0-20% Vg is what I use with them but with 0% VG the nicotine in PG liquid can be harsh and 100% PG makes little visible vapor)

Parliament - no idea. I did steal those out of my dad's pack at age 12 and smoked them myself for a while as a kid but it's been a long time.

Welcome! I started with an Ego-T Mega. I paid $36.00 for the whole starter kit. It works great for me. At first I thought I was going to want a tobacco flavored vapor, but have found out the less I smoke analogs the less I want tobacco. There are a ton of good flavors out there. Try sampler packs from various vendors, and find a few you like. You can then switch it up to compliment your mood! Good luck!!!

Welcome to the forum. The Riva is a good PV, has a little longer battery life and a little more kick/power than the ego but it is a knockoff, not a genuine ego. There are some accessories that only work on a genuine egos that you might want to get down the road. For example an ego booster which will turn your ego into a variable voltage PV. For a longer battery life you can go with the ego 1000 mah.

Well i love my eGo T and thats what i suggest. The T stands for tank you can fill it and forget it. Should last you a good while and fairly easy. I can see dripping to be helpful if your taste testing but for me its just a lot to keep up with. Thats just my view though.

Look no matter what direction you go in ya just cant lose when you toss the old smelly coffin nails, right guys. Parliment as i remember are kinda light to start with so you can start out with about 10 -16mg nicotine personally i go higher cause if you are just quitting you need that extra to keep you in check. As for menthol i have only had one from Puresmoker.com its alright but hardly strong enough for me.

Good luck and welcome to a brand new world.

Hi and welcome. I just thought I would put my 2 cnts in. I just got an ego passthru yesterday, and LOVE IT. It's not a normal passthru in that you can vape while plugged in AND you can unplug it and vape while out. It doesn't come with anything except the battery and plug, so you have to get cartos, drip tips, juice, etc. separately, but xtremevaping.com has them for $18.99, not much more then the price of a regular eGo battery. I'm using the smoktech dual coil xl cartos with it, and it has great vapor, good TH, and I'm on day 4 with my first one (topping off every once in a while, of course)using it with my 510 regular and my eGo passthrough with no problems at all. It seems to be a really good fit for me, was not real expensive, (at that price if/when it goes, not much more $$ than replacing any batteries, with the advantage of a passthru/mobile unit in one). Just thought I would share this with you, and everyone. It may not be the right choice for everyone, but like I said, I really love it, and plan to stick with this combo, eGo/dual coil for everyday and my 510 as a backup/RR use (in case it falls in or something LOL). Hope it helps.

Hey welcome to the wonderful world of vaping, i just received my Joye ego t Type B (difference between a and b is the size of the tank, a is 1.2ml and b is 2ml, basically all that means is how much juice you can put in the tank) I highly recommend liberty-flights.com there amazing. Great customer service ( my mom ordered a blue joye ego t starter kit with 2 spare atty's and the spare's were dead upon arrival and there swapped them out when i got my starter kit yesterday. If you have any questions feel free 2 ask on here everyone here is mad nice and extremely helpful. If you need some places to get juice recommend vaporbomb.com, juicyvapor.com, and a new place i just found called vaporrenu.com ( i haven't ordered anything from them yet, but they got mad mountain dew flavors if your into that sorta stuff and they got mad good prices.)

I asked alot of stupid questions here on the forum that i needed answering believe me you and i are pretty much in the same boat. Click my name and read my posted threads if your interested. O ya another tip i must give you use youtube.com to see what different styles of Joye's are out there, i personaly like the joye ego t mad easy 2 use and very easy to clean. another tip VG= more vapor PG= more flavor. When I started out with a prosmoke ecig i didnt know the difference between the 2 and I got 100%vg, you still taste some flavor but not asmuch as you would like PG. So when i order more juice im prolly gonna do a 50/50 . Yet again welcome to ECF and the wonderful world of vaping.
Peace
Shinobi

Thanks again for all the replies, I have a much better understanding of all of this now! Does anyone have any recommendations on a good place to buy liquid in small sizes? I will probably get a few from LF, but was wondering where else I should check out. Also, will I need a syringe to fill the cartos/drip tips/cartridges?
