Greetings,

36 yr old, 20+ years of smoking. Decided enough is enough. I am very grateful for this community - i've been reading and think you are all a good group of folks, impressed with the information i found here. Thanks for that.

Annoyingly though when i leave this site my head is spinning. WTF, its like the wild west out there in ecig land. Lots of options and MANY vendors, most sites i am finding hard to navigate (for example, one site has starter kits, i click it and get something other than starter kits!). Its a bit frustrating to say the least.

I smoke Parliament ultra lights, 15 or so a day. I just need something that i can deal with that would give me the same amount of "vape". My aim is to stop buying cigs, ease off them over the next two weeks.

I think i am going to get an Ego. But i am still confused - there are Ego Ts, Joye Egos, Egos, mega Egos, etc. Then i see good reviews on Go gos, Elite 808s, the list goes on.

Ok - so my request for help - can someone (not a vendor please - not anything against you, but there may be bias) suggest a good source for ordering, and is the Ego a good starting point? What else will i need to order (how much liquid? etc) to keep me grounded for a week or so while i ease off the smokes?

Thanks alot.

Welcome aboard the vape train JD! You're right about that, there are tons of options for everything you can think of involving vaping. Bats, attys, carts, you name it.. the list goes on. You have to find what works for you, and find that niche. It's kind of like you're looking for that one hobby you really enjoy. Trial and error my friend, but when you get it right, you got it right..instant vape nirvana my friend. I use an ego-t, and I haven't had any problems with it. I just suggest if you decide to go with one, just try to keep the atty from getting gunked up. (I just rinse with hot water and blow it out, works like a charm)

Make sure you stock up on liquids, cause you don't want to run out and resort back to analogues. An extra battery or two wouldn't hurt, but if you go with the Ego-T kit, I believe it come with 2 bats already, but an extra will just save you trouble later.

Hope I was some help to ya. Happy vaping!

I would highly recommend the KGO (Ego clone by SLB with a better 1100 mah battery that puts out more voltage, 4.0+ to the atomizer for a stronger hit). I got mine at hoosierecigsupply.com and was very happy with the service and product. I had 2 different types of Ego before this made by Joye (quality build, low ~3.3 voltage) and Bauway (bad quality, low voltage). The KGO does indeed give a better hit (more vapor for less time drawing on it and a bit warmer). These are all "3.7 volt" devices that actually charge to ~4 volts like any "3.7" volt Li-ion battery, but they do not all actually put out 3.7 volts due to the circuitry in the battery assembly, and the KGO is the only one I know of that puts out ~4+ to the atty.

It comes with an SLB atomizer that works pretty well, but I think the Joye brand ones are a bit better (lower 2.4 ohm resistance vs the SLB's 3 ohm resistance according to my multi-meter). So I would suggest getting the KGO kit and a 5 pack or more of Joye atomizers, then some juice to go with it. Personally, I love RY4 (caramel-ey tobacco based). The cheap Dekang (also can be had in 50 ml bottles from hoosierecigsupply) is good, and the more expensive vapor station has a really good version of it. I usually get 30 ml from them and mix it with a 50 ml from Dekang for a good flavor and less money.

Oh, and I think direct dripping tastes much better than the default carts that I could NEVER get to work well. They just refuse to wick properly no matter what filler I used and leak all over the place if you set them upright. So a couple plastic (metal is heavy and is uncomfortable to use and seems to make the vapor cold) drip tips would also be good. ~8 drops to prime a bone dry atty, 4 if you've just blown out the new atty primer, 3 drops each time to refresh it.

Also, from my experience with the roughly 40 atomizers I have bought, atomizers are luck of the draw relating to how well they work. You can buy 10 of the same brand and 5 may work ok, 2 really well, 1 not at all, and 2 poorly with a hard draw and low vapor production. 3 may want to leak all the time while the rest don't unless you flood them. It's just the nature of the crappy Chinese production line.

My suggestion is the following:
eGo (native 510 threading) from liberty-flights.com
or
Riva Lite Bundle (get the 510) from liberty-flights.com
A box or 2 of Boge regular and low resistance cartomizers to try out to find which you like best
A drip tip

The above will get you started...all you need is juice which I can't recommend because everyone tastes stuff differently. Another words, taste is subjective.

E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings - use code october20 for 20% off you total order. They also sell juice but I'm not a fan of it but others love it.

Bookmark this also. It's a coupon code master list that we all have tried to keep updated. It will provide you a small discount from the vendors if they are on the list. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...iscussion/146219-coupon-code-master-list.html

Good luck to you and whatever you decide on, if you need help, please holler. We're here to help you. Welcome to ECF!

Well I am going to tell you a vendor anyway. Liberty-Flights.com and press the 20% off upper left front page before shopping (the shown prices will be shown lower). They call things by what they really are. They Joye stuff is really Joye (and if you want an Ego I recommend the original manufacturer, Joye). They state the warranties with the items and have a further explanatory warranties page. They are also the best place to buy the Ego clone Riva 510 because their kits are all the new 3.7v model from that particular manufacturer that makes the 3.7v model.

I do not own an Ego. I own a Riva 510. But if you buy an Ego you might consider the Ego-T even just for its batteries - they have a 5-click enable/disable which makes it safer to pocket them. Some people like the tank attys and tanks, some have problems with leaking or flavor. But you can use any 510 or Ego stuff on them and Joye attachments like their dual coil mega cartomizers will fit properly on them because it's a Joye battery.

If you buy an Ego-T I would also recommend
- a standard 510 atomizer and 510 drip tip for testing juices and vaping by dripping
- a pack of Boge 510 cartomizer to learn how to use stuffing cartomizers (the way most people vape their favorite juices, with various kinds and sizes of stuffing and reservoir cartomizers). The 3 ohm ones are less warm but more forgiving to learn on
- an extra charger cable for at work
- A syringe for filling tanks? (dunno - I do not use tanks)
- Eliquid!! Aim at one level and buy a bit on either side in case you need it. Hardware vendors in general do not have the best eliquid. but you need some to start.

510 is the most popular threading and can also use 306 atomizers as well as others with an adapter. But natively 510 has the most stuff so it is a great threading to start on.

And grats!! Good move!

Riva 1100Mah or Kgo (basically the same) from Hoosier Supply or Liberty Flights
Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers are good but I prefer CE2 fluxomizers (Gotvapes)
ECblends 7 leaf tobacco with cool hit (30 Ml will get most through 1-2 weeks)

That is simple :)

And welcome to ECF

Agreed - both are excellent low-fiddle, high performance PVs. Kgo and Riva PVs vape like a high-priced mod for less than a carton of smokes for a kit with 2 ecigs and accessories. I like HoosierEcigSupply.com and BreezeSmokes.com because they carry the Kgo kits that offer more voltage (stronger vape) and bigger mAh 1100 (battery lasts longer) than the Riva Lite Bundle at LF. Either brand is a solid winner.

Welcome to ECF ! Lots of good info here. I am fairly new to the Vaping world but I hope I can be of a little help as others here have helped me.

I can highly recommend Liberty-Flights as a supplier, I placed my order on Friday afternoon and it arrived on Monday morning. I personally don't use an ego or a tank system but my recommendation would be as follows:

From liberty-flights.com (click the 20% discount in upper left)
riva lite kit - 29.99
510 driptip of your choosing - ~$2
5 pack Boge LR (2.0 ohm) cartomizers - $7.99

This lets you try dripping and boge cartomizers, also includes cartridges

If you like the Boge cartos, you can get 15 for $20 and free shipping @ crystalclearvaping.com

As others have mentioned taste is subjective and you will have to try several to find the ones you like.
Start with quality juices from reputable suppliers:

Rocky Mountain Vapor
Backwoods Brew
NHaler
pinkspotvapors
rawrvapor

I use 20% or less VG in cartos (I am using the less warm standard resistance ones) and up to 50% VG dripping on an atomizer

FreedomSmokeUSA.com - some I have liked are oRYental 4 (a sweet RY4 tobacco), Pomegranate (good and flavorful), and for a strong funky nutty and slightly pungent tobacco (some say it smells like a freshly opened pack) Desert Ship. And their Specialties are 50/50 only and in those for dripping I like Hopscotch (tastes like Honey and Butterscotch to me) and Voodoo which is a bit fruity and a bit cinnamon and I guess some tobacco.

Gourmet Vapor - sign up so you get their sale emails (you just missed a 50% off sale)

Vapor4Life - their cartos are KR808D-1 threaded but I like a couple of their WOW juices in cartos (WOWbacco and WOW Vanilla)

Velvet Vapors - Their Raspberry Gingerale is a must try if you get a pack of samples (they have plain gingerale too)

Wow. Thanks everyone.

Liberty flights has an EXCELLENT and friendly site - compared to other vendors i see. I plan to do business there.

But first, i need to decide on the vaper to go with. Based on the feedback, its between the Ego-T or the ego1100.

The Ego 1100 gives me what seems to be higher power and a longer life - but is slightly bigger? The Ego T seems slimmer / more compact?

Leaning toward the 1100 for now.

Will decide on the drive home....

i am new to vaping, but i will throw in my 2 cents. i got the elite 808 about 3 weeks ago and love it. get the whole kit for about 50 bucks and has some great reviews by some of the forum vets. ordered it thurs morning and got it saturday from cali to missouri.

the elite cartos get great reviews as well. i think the elite 808 is pretty new so not as wide spread as some of the other brands or models, but i really haven't seen anyone post anything negative about them.

Pickup the ego, its a good starter ecig (tho I recommend a riva as it's now 3.7v rather than the ego's 3.2 volts plus its cheaper). As for other things you'll need. Most people say boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers, which I was always a fan of but you must try the resurrectors from crystalclearvaping (its like 15 for 23 dollars or so, free shipping), I'm currently in love with them (more than the boges).

Make sure you get a 510 driptip (from liberty flights or you get a free one if you order a 15 pack of cartos from ccv)

If you go the atomizer route, you'll use the driptip anyway (most people dislike cartridges).

Most starter atomizers are terrible. My favorite atomizers are cisco LR from avidvapor but they'll drain a ego/riva pretty fast.

Well, i got the kit today with some catomizers (the gold ones - about a months supply i think) incredibly quick.

Simply amazing - very attractive device (ELITE 808), and the throat hit is beyond words. I am stunned by this technology.

I have a pack and a half of analogues left. I am going to slowly ease those out over the next couple of days by alternating in the Elite 808.

Wish me luck. I will report back in a few days time.
