Good day all!
OK, I'm new, and just getting started. In fact I haven't made my first purchase yet. After looking at everything here and other places I am going to order the Joye 510.... That being said now is where it gets confusing with SO many e liquids! My point in starting this is to get away from analogs.. I smoke Salem, so I will first want to get at close to that taste as possible. So would that be straight menthol? Or should I mix? I'm looking at Cignot to buy from... package comes with 5 prefilled carts(Marlboro High) which I probably won't like, being a menthol smoker. I see many other flavors that, down the line I will try... But for now I need to mimick that Salem taste... Best way????
btw, I did try this out at a kiosk at a local shopping center, the guy screwed on a menthol cartridge, cant remember the product name...something "51", but the taste was very good and just the menthol I was looking for.
One more thing...how do you decide on Nicotine strength.???

Cignot is a good place to buy from and the quality of service from the ladies there is excellent.

If you have your heart set on a 510, that's a great source.

I would suggest you start with e-liquid that is in the 24mg range. That's a good baseline level and for most people it will handle the cravings with normal vaping.

Taste is personal and subjective. I'm an ex-menthol smoker and went down the same path that you did. Since you are going to go with Cignot, I'd suggest you get a small bottle of their ECOpure Menthol and a small bottle of their ECOpure Rich. You may like the Menthol straight... but if you feel you want a little more hint/texture of tobacco, add the Rich to suit your taste.

These are just ideas and guidelines. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the info Scott.... I had picked out a bottle of menthol :) Was unsure of what the "Rich" was.... Just a tobacco flavor I am guessing. That should get me started...I'll get into the exotics later I'm sure.....
One thing.... I can order either manual or auto.... the one that I tried at the kiosk was auto....worked fine with me... but what do most people end up with?

Most people who get the 510 prefer the manual battery. It gives you better control over the vaping and you don't have to worry about overfilling and leaking liquid into the battery. If cignots menthol isn't strong enough for you, you can get menthol crystals and disovle them then add to the liquid, or Welcome to NHaler! has a super menthol flavor plus lots of other menthol, tobacco and fruit flavors.

Just got my 510 from RMV; using the prefilled cart that came with it; lots of vapor, prety good taste and throat hit. Can I refill these carts, or add to them (possibly a menthol flavor) as they begin to empty ? Just add a few drops, or will I need a syringe ? Can I leave the prefilled cart attached to the assembly, or should I remove it each time ?

So many questions, so much excitement !

Yes, you can recycle pre-filled carts...no real need for a syringe.

Cheers to moobyghost for this vid and his youtube channel.

YouTube - Mooby's Guide for Noobies: How to Refill Carts

I only fully refill my carts about once a week when I wash the filling, I generally just top them off with a few drops of e-juice a few times a day.

I have a question about when you wash the filling, do you pull it out with tweezers, rinse it in hot water, let it dry or dry it with a paper towel, then fill the cartridge a little in the bottom, put the filling back in, and fill it more until it is slightly "Slushy"?

That is the answers I have been getting from youtube and other forum posts.

Looks like you got the cleaning down already---use distilled water though. If I clean this way, I use a little vodka to sterilize. Eventually you'll have to replace with new. There are many types of filler. I personally use wool but just do a search on filler in the Tips and Tricks and Mod section and you'll come up with several more.

By the way, welcome.

Demonfire, I remove it from the cart, swish around in hot water, rinse under hot tap, then squash it in a paper towel until dry (I wash the cart, straw and cap while I am at it).

Then I put the filler back in the cart before adding juice, I get about 16 or so drops in there before it looks full.

I'm sure others have different methods, but that works for me.

You don't need to wash the filler between every fill; but yes, that will work. You then might want to wick up maybe a 10th of a drop with a tissue to insure the atty doesn't flood. Especially considering the 510.

Your mom said not to say...
Grab yourself some Fluval from Petsmart or another pet store, it can be found in the aquarium supplies it is a water filter for fish tanks, and is perfect for replacement filler. Even washing and drying out those that came with it eventually they will be useless. Fluval pads are easy to cut to size and slide right into the cart.

As you are about to discover there are tons of little mods and tricks required to really enjoy the 510. That is the reason I don't care for it. I don't want to be topping off or filling carts every hour which is what you will be doing, or dripping each time you want to vape so then you have to carry a kit around with you. More trouble than the pleasure it provides in my book. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure that over time you will end up with a few different kit's as do all of us.

For juices just about any supplier sells them in bottles of various sizes or you can make your own for even more savings. I was a non menthol smoker and never had a desire or interest in flavored tobacco's but I must say I do enjoy trying out different flavors that I never would have if they were in tobacco form. Somehow the idea of a peanut butter flavored cigarette just never appealed to me, but a peanut butter flavored E-juice I would try, lol! It's a new hobby and you will find that you prefer some flavors over others. I just bought some GC carts in tobacco since that was all they has left, that's the first time I bought a tobacco flavor since my first week of orders!

Everyone has their favorites, I prefer to vape more than play with it so I went with a GC kit and I love it. I have a m401 out on loan to my mother that I really liked, the flavors it makes are really nice, smoother than the 510 which to me is harsh moreso than throat hit, it also takes a little time to break in and it has mellowed over time so it's not such a complaint with me anymore. The battery mods are nice as well since the higher voltages really bring out the flavors and produce such a hit you would think you were smoking a Cuban cigar or something. The KR808D-1 is nice as well for no fuss vaping and easy refills of carts, and of course my GreenCig which I love best of all. It would not surprise me one bit to talk to you in 2 months and see that you have 3 or more different kits at that time....Good luck and welcome to your new obsession.
