New atomizer and funky initial flavor

I recently purchased the volcano inferno with the magma atomizer. I tried a few different flavors, but have noticed a strange stale-ish flavor when in the first few puffs. Is there a way to get around it? Is anyone else having issues like that? I thought it was a matter of waiting but it doesn't seem like that's the problem. Any input?

if you've had it awhile, i'd suggest giving it a ten minute bath in some hot water (distilled if you have it) then blow out the excess and let it dry. re-prime it with two drops and start over. You may have some burnt residue on your wick

Make sure you are using enough juice and getting the atty good and wet...try 5 drops.

Some attys come with priming fluid that is usually just PG to keep it from being too dry, but it tastes like chemicals (at least to me, anyways).
