Hi, My name is Roj and I'm an Alcoh... wait wrong forum...

Bit of background, I'm a 16 year smoker with about a pack a day habit - LOVE SMOKING! I'm looking for vape to be an augment to my smoking and not as a replacement... We'll see if I drop the analogues for the digital... Funny story as a guitarist, digital is usually a bad thing to have in your equipment and this process of digital / analogue conversion goes against the grain  but until you can buy an ecig with a vacuum tube in it well I guess im converted to the 1s and 0s

I've been researching / looking and lurking at these for a little while off and on and I've decided that it's time to take the plunge... Great forum here, FAR too much info and some interesting personalities...

I'm planning on getting 3 kits (to try out form factors, auto vs manual and to play a bit) with a bunch of spares... Being in Australia where there is NO local suppliers sucks so I need to keep supplies more than most on here... Purely from an aesthetics view, I've narrowed down the devices to a janty stick, 510 and maybe one more - ideas to compliment those two?

As far as juice goes, I'm smoking 20 or so 8mg sticks at the moment and from the guides i've read here I'm looking at getting a mix of 18 and 24mg juices... id prefer to be too strong and water them down than be stuck with not enough strength... I've selected 8 flavours to begin with and i'm getting 10ml bottles of each to work through...

Cheers
roj.

Welcome to the ECF and congratulations on doing the research before you buy! Suggestions on kits has a lot to do with what you want out of an ecig. eGo/Riva kits are popular suggestions, but seeing your reference to the Janty Stick leads me to believe you are open to the box mod form factor and they're not a bad choice either.

One thing I did want to mention regarding the Stick is that they use the pen style atomizer rather than the 510. If you are looking to compare the two, then good for you! I just wanted to mention it in case you were expecting them to be compatible.

Thanks for the reply -

The main reason for the Janty is from what I've seen many seasoned vapers recommend them and while they may not be the first stop for newbies it appears that many end up with one...

I want to get one with MEGA battery life and am happy to chop and change the others... I think that the janty will pretty much just be for home use and one of the other kits will live at my interstate home (travel every week across country) so will need a dedicated setup there too... Interchanging parts is a big plus but not a show stopper if they dont... spare attys etc are easy to get...

Hi Roj and welcome.

There are quite a few suppliers here in Aus, the only thing you can't buy here is juice containing nicotine. That we buy from China or the US. Some of us buy the high nic unflavoured and mix it with locally produced doublers. Will PM you a link.

My main kit is the eGo/Riva 510 and that gives me good battery life particularly with the 900 or 1100mah batteries.

Cheers.

Gday Clark... Great linky - Thanks very much!

the eGo is on the list for sure! Its currently fighting it out with the DSE905 for the last kit in my bag...

Out of interest - Has anyone had any problems with PCCs or ecigs going thru airport TSA checks? Just thinking that a something that looks like a ciggy box with a whole bunch of wires in it might get my lower colon inspected?

I've had no problems at the airports. I carry an eGo 650mah and spare carto in my pocket, with juices and other spares in the carry on bag.

The eGo goes through the XRay in the tray and then back into the pocket. I travel a lot between east & west and I stealth vape in my seat during the flight.

DING DING DING DING! We have a winnar! Glad to hear this! I do just short flights (Sydney to Melb and back) but would LOVE to be vaping instead of just counting the mins to the next cig!!!

Also glad to hear that security dont think you have a bomb! BIG PLUS!

Maybe you should think about the eGo or Riva from Libertflights along with the janty, and 510. I lfy alot, adn the eGo goes in the basket with the iPhone, pen and shoes and never a question. A TSA guard looked at my Reo Mini coming back from Boston, and again from Houston but no problems with any ecigs or mods like the Reo or provari.

We have a lot more leeway here in Australia than flying in the states... no shoe removal unless it sets off the metal detectors etc I should be fine, just interested to hear other's experiences...

Hey Roj and welcome to ECF.

I am based in Sydney and travel quite a bit, mainly international through the APAC region and have never had any issues so far. My Provari goes in my check through baggage and I take my eGo-T on the plane along with a spare carto or 2 and a couple of bottles of 10 ml juice just in case I feel like a flavour change mid flight :)

Only time I have ever been questioned is when I rocked up to Manila airport still vaping on my Provari. Got a few questions from security and had to show him that there was no "smoke" LOL. Put it in my check through at check in and all was good.

You should also drop by the Aussie Vapors forum which is a bunch of locals from right around Oz. if you cant find it, PM me and I'll give you the link.

Cheers

Richard

Ok, Its time to pull the trigger! (I think?!?) --- I've done all my math, selections of flavours, types of device, types of tank conversion kit, more math, other accessories, correct discount codes to use, FINGERS CROSSED!

What i'm getting is listed below, am I missing anything obvious? Order too many of something? not enough of something?

Screwdriver MKII - Full Kit
SD MKII 901 - 510 Tank Conversion Kit
10X EMPTY TANK CARTRIDGES - CLEAR with and 10 spare caps ;)
5X 1.7 ohm Low Resistance Atomizers
1X spare battery - making 3 in total - Should I get more?

Juices : 10ML each of Apple, Black Cherry, Lime Zinger, Very Vanilla, Cognac, Tobacco

Here's to a vape in a couple of days!

Pull it! Pull da trigga!

I assume the SD MKII is okay with 1.7 ohm attys. Too tired to make extra sure. Hope you like your gear!

Yea - the 1.7 attys are the right ones... There is a low resistance and a normal, the LRs are on sale, so cheaper and I have heard that they produce more vapour - Is this correct?

Cheers - HITTING MAKE ORDER GO NOW!

Bought the second kit this morning - This time from the US, I got a 510 mini with two different types of cartos and an extra auto battery to try an auto out... of course more juice too!

I'm still looking for some unflavoured nic juice - Is using really as simple as getting a weaker 18mg flav which needs a kick and adding some drops of the nic? Should I be getting 36mg or higher as a mixer? I've seen the flavour doublers and the bulk unflav PG/VG and at this stage don't really want to get into hardcore DIY stuff, just want to be able to kick it up an 18 to a 22 or 24...

So the UK kit will land sometime between 20th and 24th of June... the USA one im hoping for on the 15th - fingers crossed! everyday is another 16 bucks and ~20 analogs :(

<rant>
I'm getting REALLY poopy about the shipping times - $25 for 9-12 days from the uk sucks! i'd pay 50 bucks for 2 days guaranteed! its not like there aren't planes flying all the fricken time! naa London to Australia - never... FFS!
