So I'm a battery charging newb.

I have an xtar-VP1 currently sitting with two Panasonic NCR18650PFs in it. I know the xtar will stop them charging at the appropriate voltage (4.2V +/- 0.01 I believe). Is there any advantage in terms of battery life of taking them off at say 4.15V?

Also, to get the longest life out of them, when should I recharge them? Again is there any advantage to doing this earlier?

Allow the batteries to attain a full charge of 4.2 volts.

Some chargers stop providing a full charge to a fully charged battery, but continue to give a "trickle charge" to keep the battery topped off. Lithium batteries do not care for this over time and their lifetime longivity will decline if this becomes a practice. It's one of the reasons to remove a battery soon after attaining a full charge and not allow the battery to remain in the charger.
