I'm a fan, so don't get me wrong. But, I recently took delivery of an order which included some blank premium cartos. So far, I've only attempted to fill a couple of them, using the carto condom method.

I'm used to filling the condom up about 3/4ths, without previously needing to count drops. Previously, a blank carto would soak that much up, especially a brand new one. Just saying, I've got some experience using this technique, without any earlier problems.

But, with these, I barely started and juice started coming out of the battery end. I mean, I might have entered the juice by a millimeter, no more. At first, I thought to myself that I had stupidly tried to fill a new pre-filled carto. Not so.

Anyone have a clue?

Yeah, don't use condom fill method anymore. If the cap can easily come out, then there is no excuse not to drip liquid directly into the cart, IMO. Don't drip straight down into it but let the juice run down the sides into the filler material. You probably have carts that are more tightly packed (which is good) so it's taking longer for juice to get soaked up. The condom fill method just forces juice into it without regard to the time it takes for juice to soak in. Dripping liquid into the cart lets you easily gauge how much to put in and how fast as well. So, drip a some drops in, say 8 or so, then do the Taryn spin thing to get the centrifugal force working the juice to the bottom. Repeat the process 2 more times for a total of 24 drops. If the material looks like it can take a few more drops then go for it! Anyway, the point is, ditch the condom method because you just can't see what's going on inside your carts. I think you will be pleased! ;)

Thanks for the replies. I didn't do the spin, didn't see any point in it since I got practically no juice into the carto. As with the regular cartos, I slowly, gently pushed them in. The overflow was almost immediate ... as noted in post #1, perhaps a millimeter in. Yes, clearly, there is a difference.

I will attempt again, with your feedback in mind. Thanks.

EDIT: posted before your reply ElectraGlide. I'll read that too.

Post edit: If Premium cartos means abandoning the best fill method, I'll abandon Premium cartos.

Another reason I'm against the condom fill method is juice is left behind in the condom which is juice that could have gone in the carto where it belongs. It's not a lot but, over time and many refills, does add up!
Not much of an issue. If you refill in batches, AND you have syringes. If there's any left in the condom when your session is over, suck it up with a syringe and squirt it back in the bottle. Blunt tipped needles, which I use, make this a simple, quick task.

I successfully use the condom fill method on premium carts (without the spin) by slowly filling from the battery end - not the mouthpiece end. You can easily see what's going on. I use auto batteries and do not have any problems with this method. Just make certain you wipe the threads clean before attaching to your battery and this method works great. For me, anyway.

Probs I used to have with syringe method:
I busted some premiums w/ the syringe method when premiums first came out, so I stopped using that method. I was a newbe when the premium cartos came out and I don't think I would have broken as many now as I did then.... just knowing more about the construction of a carto. Looking back I think I was squashing the batting (not putting needle in delicately enough) when I was sticking the needle in causing complete or partial air blockage in some of the cartos permanently. I also separated the heating element from the bottom of the carto, when there was "no room" in the batting for my needle and I guess I pushed too hard...and this heating element separation only happened when I was going up from the batt end...never from the mouth end.

How I Fill My Blank Premiums or Cools:
Now I drip...and both gravity and tapping batt end on a hard surface get those drops in for me without a problem. I find that the reason the juice doesn't go in is due to air being trapped in the batting ... and a little tapping helps the bubbles come up allowing more room for juice to go in. Once you get the first fill done they are super absorbent while dripping....until next carto cleaning. Then you have to do the tapping thing again. I don't Taryn Spin...anymore...since the premium cartos came out....PLEASE!? This is MUCH FASTER!!!! Used to have to spin with "those" old cartos (chuckle). The premiums and cools have saved so much "Taryn Spin Time"...its just UNBELIEVABLE!! I love the Taryn spin, as this is how I got off analogs ... and I did it with a smile! Taryn: thanks so much for your contribution to catro history and to saving my life with your "spin"!!! And it still has its place with thicker juices for example...but now we are lucky enough that V4L has come a generation further in carto technology with their super absorbent batting in our V4L cartos...no more spinning for me!! Time is too precious. I just drip when needed....and yes I'm am auto batt user. I take carto off, drip, wait a couple of minutes w/ carto standing upright when done dripping (to ensure no leakage into batts)...then clean off batt end and vape away....NO SPINNING. Thats just one thought from an "old timer" who finds time very valuable. I get 30-32 drops in on first fill every time just dripping and tapping and it really doesn't take much time at all. Maybe 34 on a cool.

Another thought (and I'm really serious about this having done it myself): If you are just quitting analogs spinning may be a therapeutic hand motion or something though so just ignore me and SPIN SPIN SPIN!!

NCC: Maybe tapping after filling will get it soaked in using your favorite method of filling :). From my exper the cause of the problem is the trapped air bubbles when in comes to blank cartos.

Vape On & Happy 4th!!

Terrie...I have new cool carts. I take off the cap, drip in 10 drops, put a condom on the bottom, do a Taryn spin. Add another 10 drops...spin again....add another 10 drops...spin again. I have been able to add 4 or 5 additional drops. Recap, and good to go. I am AMAZED at how long I vape on a newly filled cool cart. Hours and hours and hours, etc. I LOVE THESE CARTS!! Good luck!

If you mean from a top refill, (no cap) I was noticing that too. You might want to try flipping it over w/ the condom still on and tapping it. It works for me most times. When it doesn't, I use the extra to top off or to fill/top off a 2nd cart.

Hope that helps.
