So I gt a new Boge F17 carto tank. I've decided I really prefer carto tanks to clearomizers and I've been on the hunt for a good one. I have a Triple V and and a couple of Ego Dual Coil tanks My Triple V, great. The Ego tanks, very good but loud hissing sound on inhale...kinda bothers me. SO the new F17 came yesterday and is loaded with carto upon arrival. I dripped into the carto a bit to get it damp and filled the tank down the side with syringe, sucked on it 20 seconds or so with no power and vaped. It was great. two or three more vapes and I start tasting the burnt taste. Pulled on it a little more with no power, went again, burnt taste. No big deal, I got a dud carto. Switched to new carto, followed same steps above, everything fine for about 15 minutes then bam, burnt taste. Did I do something wrong? Anyone know a catch to this thing?

I used on my Ego Twist at 3.7-4.2, the carto that came in it was suppose to be Boge 2.4, the one I switched to was Boge "F16 Carto 1.6-2.0ohm" (box). hmmmmmmmm, was the first one a dud and the second low ohm at too high voltage.....now I'm wondering

Forgot to mention...when I took cartos out I pulled on them a few times, NO burnt taste. vaping on carto by itself right now????????

The burnt taste definitely not coming from your eGo Twist since it is within the voltage level. Since you have already used carto before, you should have primed the carto correctly. Are there any pre-punched holes on the carto? This is one thing you have not mentioned. How big is the punched hole as compared to the viscosity of the juice?

Usually after I primed the carto, I let it sit awhile just want to make sure it soaked up nicely in the tank before I use it. You supposedly to primed the entire carto as mentioned by RoadToNever. Make sure you primed to the point that the juice wants to leak out from the punched hole but not leaking yet.

Used 2 boge cartos with two pre punched holes, did a new setup from scratch last night with ST carto one hole punch worked fine for about 30 minutes last night. It sat all night and this morning tasted burnt. Hubby tried, agreed. Took carto out, dripped 4 to 5 drops, carto leaked, vaped it, it was fine.

I'm using VR4 (organic RY4) @ 50/50 by Vaperite. It is a little thick but I've smoked in all my other devices with no problems. Because I have been trying different carto-tank setups, I have three going right now with same juice. One reg Boge carto dual pre punched, one ST carto long with small flange, then the tank we're talking about with the Boge and Smoketech cartos mentioned.

I'm thinking it's got to be the tank right? But what? Ive never had to deal with O-rings so I don't know anything about them but I'm sure they effect the "vacuum" of the tank, right? So maybe an o-ring is damaged?? I don't know, like I said, I'd like to learn for the future.

It wasn't expensive so the only thing I'm really upset about is that I really would have liked to try it working properly. Any help for future knowledge would be great. I'm pretty sure I can't replace or repair anything on this tank and don't know that it would be worth it. Another really frustrating part - this is my second dud from the same vendor (two different products).

I use carto puncher and many don't like this idea because it deformed the carto a bit. However none of mine leaked due to the deformation. Once my puncher tip just touched the carto without putting any pressure, I then turn the screw with 4 full circles. That would be enough for juices that are 50/50 or even higher VG. If VG content is really high, then I would punch another hole on the other side.

Sometimes the pre-punch carto holes are still too small. It would be okay for 70/30 PG/VG.

Second is your leak should have nothing to do with your burnt taste for sure. But observe the leak to make sure it is from the O-Ring. It is not a bad idea to get something like Big Daddy's Slap Yo Mama tool to help to insert the carto without damaging the O-ring. And there are many knock-offs out there, unfortunately I never use the KO. If the leaking is from the screw end of the carto then it is due to pressure when you either push the carto back into position or cover the top cover after refilling. When you push the carto upwards, make sure you use the thumb to cover the screw hole. If not, once pressure builds, it would push the juice into the carto holes that will cause flooding and leaking.

I am still puzzled about the burnt taste though.
