So thanks to dchest02 i got my very own brass firing pins.......i must say i like them alot......the V drop is better right off the gate.....the more i mess with it the more it improves.....dont know why that is but its so......

So taking my REO apart and putting everything together with the brass pin took about 5 min and put everything back on and tested it......first test proved at 3.52 and worked its way up to 3.66 and at the point i couldn't wait and wanted to vape.....LOL.....

here are some pics to prove it REONAUTS.....LOL

I stuck in a DZ/Pdib SS firing pin yesterday. I didn't do any measurements but some Reonaut let the invisible mule out cause he kicked me in the chest the first hit. Have gone from 0.86 to a 1.46 ohm coil. I like it a lot seems like a major difference in voltage drop. Well at least my lungs think so.

Yeah. it makes a huge difference. you can run a significantly higher Ω coil and yield the results of a lower Ω. Or you could be crazy like Uncle Monkey here and run a .5Ω with low v-drop and blow your head off! :D

Interesting. So, with the brass pin, do you have to noalox or file it at all? Or is oxidation build-up just not an issue? How/where would I go about getting one?

You can just wait till rob the creator of the reos to release his sub ohm kit or you can make it yourself or ask one of these nice people to send you one :

I also have applied Noalox to one of my two with the brass firing pins. I could tell it had a slight misfire from time to time. Sure enough, tiny little spark on second draw. I think it had more to do with the excess juice on my firing pin than anything else, but as soon as I dabbed a little Noalox on it, it went away. Performance is the same.

I have some copper stock laying about that is thin enough to make into a firing pin...I can only imagine the v drop on that would be....low to say the least.

My question...and what has kept me from doing it so far...is how do you remove the retainer nipple that holds the firing pin on? In Robs video he cuts it off and replaces it... I think I read somewhere that it was threaded. It is difficult to remove?

With the amount of money I have dropped getting my 4 member family put together this month I think SWMBO may just explode if I were to damage on of them and need to spend more cash on a rebuild kit!

Thanks
Geo

Which begs the question that if you want the best conductivity, why you don't use silver?

It's always a compromise and since v-drop depends on attys and batteries, it strikes me as a rather imprecise art at best, especially since unless you use the fuse mod, your limitation in a regular mechanical grand is always going to be the spring at the moment.

And that will sag at 0.4Ω.

silver wouldn't be bad to try either.......not sure how much more expensive that would be though or how hard it would be to cut into the dimensions needed........i am gonna get the sub ohm kit that rob will have soon so we shall see if silver is needed or not.....
