Hey all,

I have a 2 reo grandes and will probably be purchasing a lp reo grande soon - I just love them and shocked on why the heck the whole rest of the vaping world doesn't own one especially now in rba world ! Lol !

I may or may not be spending 50 dollars for the new kits - I'm not sure yet - avail $ has changed from years ago

Where can I get the best info regarding the fuse mod/brass shim -
1. I'm kinda curious of the science and plan to see why this would decrease voltage drop
2. I may make a personal decision to use one or two after gathering all the info
3. It may not do it at all

Just finding it difficult to locate the proper info or a YouTube video -

Oh and most importantly anyone who has done any version have you suffered any ill affects. Is it worth the increase in voltage

Again I may just buy 2 more kits from rob for increase voltage - I guess I will have to PM him and see if he will maybe sell just the pin and spring separate. Really only want one gasket and don't need extra bottles at the moment - never hurts to ask -

Thanks all - have a great reo Sunday :)

Buy the whole kit, it includes the high heat button and you can always use a spare set of 510 pins and gaskets for emergencies.

If you do the fuse mod it is much more invasive than just replacing the parts with Rob's kit, for fit and finish you cant beat something that was designed and created for a certain purpose.

The only increase from the shim and fuse mod comes from the 10A fuse still offering less resistance than the safety spring and we are talking (from my personal tests so far) .05~.1 difference in VD when down at .20Ω. IMO the biggest drawback on the fuse mod is unless you create a nice cradle to hold both the fuse and battery safely you actually put undue stress on the negative battery contact, I put a couple of slight dents on the bottom of my AW IMR 1600s.

The brass shim while effective arced like a mad man and tore up my batteries pretty bad and I was still above .30Ω when using it. I might make a new one to compare with VD results but can almost guarantee that it has less conductivity than the BeCu and will require much more maintenance over the Gold plating.

Edit: you will also lose the spring back response that the BeCu or older SS firing pin gave, I never had it happen but the brass shim does not retain its shape like Rob's pins. I think DarkZero talked about it probably being tempered SS to allow the firing pin to be so thin but still retain is responsiveness to button release. So over time the brass pin will bend forcing you to press the button harder and could even bend so far as to auto fire your mod, so make sure you check your contact during battery changes.

It would be a wise move if you really are set on making your own part's to PM 'redeyedancer' to get >> 'Complete center post with female end and both gasket's', cus if you're like me you will wear down the slit or screw in the top of that post or break the female part off, which if you treat it like a lady as I do you won't ever break it :D

If you're gonna buy another reo then you will see the result of lowered VD between your present reo and the new one, new reo's have the kit already installed.

I use a brass pin and fuse, i don't get any arcing that i can see, but then I use noalox which I think everyone that sub-ohms uses.

A brass feeler-gauge will have a few dif thickness's on it, the one's I've used are 0.008, 0.010 & 0.012, I have a 0.012 in atm with about 1-2mm travel on it & work's good.

My personal finding's were the homemade job was about .25v better, which is enough for me to notice.

I did not know that about the female end and gaskets - good info!

And mackman and "greatest" also had the exact info I was looking for too--all the posts covered everything I wanted to know for now! - thank you so much !!!

I support everyone getting the upgrade kit -

This was just a personal question of mine I wanted to know more about and make a personal choice on which ones of the reos I would upgrade: all, non, the work around -

Thank you !
