I broke a coil leg in the Aris when I went to re-wick, so I had to rebuild it. This time I did twisted 30ga Kanthal, 3.5mm, 5/4 wrap verticals for a target of .5 Ohms. The native coil value was .491, but it jumped to .525 by the time I got finished pushing and pulling on the coils to wick it. The real difference this time was I tried a horseshoe wick. Previously I had just cut the wicks off about 2mm taller than the coil tops. I think it has unmuted the flavor a bit. I'm still working my way through the rayon break in, but it seems more flavorful this way. vaping my old DIY desktop peppermint.

Your horseshoe should go over, (on top of) the center air post. Good to drip on it, and it can take a much thicker wick with those big coils (something I wouldn't do with other RDA's). IMHO. I've a love/hate relationship with the AP. Haha lol. I like it a lot. :)
Yeah? I was worried about blocking the air from the center post. Not sure I can move it now, but I'll try it next time.

Easy to re-wick. Coils should be as close as possible to the air holes in the center post (without touching it). Horseshoe can sit on top of the post. Literally. How can the air be blocked?

I have photos I can post in this thread, but I need to edit & upload them. Will take me a day or so to find some time.
No problem. I understand. I'll rewick it.

It's was just a coincidence that I did a recent build, and had these pics to share. I like the AP. It's a beauty!, but big air is good too, and it doesn't have that. The AP has it's place. Thought of selling it but I think it's a cool piece, not my favorite, but a keeper for what it does so well. Hope you enjoy yours.

Yeah, I feel about the same way. I love it for flavor. It really unlocks my DIY peppermint. But I like my Clove or Cinnamon in an airy atty, and the AP is not. I moved the wick to the top of the center post, didn't have to rewick, there was enough slack. It works like a champ. Since this thing is so good with verticals, I really want to try both SS mesh and ceramics for wicks in it. Might be fun :)
