HotRod, absolutely love this calculator for how I DIY. It's the only one that doesn't screw around with me when using premixed base. I just tell it I'm using 22mg 60/40 base and rather than it telling me I have to add or remove something, it just tells me I'm going to end up with 18 or 19 mg in the final product. Exactly what I wanted. There's only 2 things I've thought of that would make it perfect IMO.

1) give us a way to put a small (like 120x120) jpg image on each recipe and let us print that on the label along with the text. Yes, I have a thing for fancy labels. I can spot a picture on a bottle in my box of juices much faster than words.

2) export to a format that can be imported by one of the free android calculators. I wouldn't expect an android version of this program, but if I could just export my recipes to a format that say, POVCalculator or eliquid Recipe Manager could read then I could carry them with me if anyone asks me what's in it. I'm thinking something like export from Recipe Calculator to dropbox folder and then import from dropbox on my phone to one of those apps. Judging by looking at those programs POVCalculator is a csv format, and eliquid Recipe Manager is an XML format (and an overly complicated one at that).

How do I update to the newest version? Not sure what to download from Google drop box. Thanks
- Dirk

You need to download the file that starts with "setup" and ends with ".zip". Extract the zip file to a folder, then run the setup file.

The other files are various recipe collections that can be opened in the calculator.

I've asked HotRod19579 to remove the ELiquidJuiceData-files from download.

I think it's rude and really bad form to just rip the recipe sites without permission.

I think it is rude, and poor form to crap up someones forum post without asking in a simple private message to do so, Just Saying.

BTW, recipes all yours? copywritten? I'd bet most. if not all of them are available in other places. If he were profiting from this tremendous generosity I might feel differently.

At Daath's request I have removed the recipe file from the download site.

Daath has my sincere apology and I want him to know that I was in no way trying to rip him off nor take any credit for the recipes that may have originated on his website. I was only attempting to make what I thought were shared recipes available to the users of the calculator.

This thing sounds absolutely amazing, but I do have a question. I'm a complete "noob to DIY," but I find that I like to mix flavors of existing e-juices, and some are at different nicotine strengths; obviously a calculator like this would make that much easier, but I'm wondering if it's appropriate for that type of use? I'm nowhere near the point of starting with nicotine, PG/VG, and flavoring to create my very own custom e-juice, but with the mixing of flavors, and mixing of juices that have different strengths, some type of calculator would obviously be extremely helpful; right now I'm using Excel to make sure that levels of nic per amount are properly averaged/computed, but that's still basically a manual operation.

I'm asking this rather than downloading, installing, and seeing for myself, mainly because right now, I don't have .NET 4.0 installed; the last thing I used that required the .NET extensions used the 3.5 version. If this calculator really isn't suitable for the type of mixing/dilution that I do, then no need to get the .NET upgrade. It's so slow to get stuff from MS installed, I figured I'd save myself a lot of time if I just asked if this calculator could help me in the fairly basic stuff that I do.

Thx much!!

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I will investigate what we can do to cooperate a bit on the recipe front ;) As I wrote to HotRod, I don't have anything against it in theory, as long as we attribute things correctly. I have a lot of export/import things on my todo-list, and this just makes another :)

HotRod's calculator (or many any others for that matter) would definitely make your life a lot easier :) Just having a place to get back to your old recipes and notes is a win :)

Based on what I understand you are just adding flavor to an existing mix and you don't have a nicotine base and it sounds like you may not have a PG/VG base. A calculator isn't going to do much for you except for maybe storing the recipe of the ingredients that you added.

There are a couple of ways you could do this with the JuiceCalculator but this is probably the best way:

1. Go into the "Manage Ingredients" window and add your pre-mix as a "Nicotine" ingredient (select the Nicotine radio button). Make sure you specify the Nicotine level of the pre-mix and you should specify the PG/VG level of the pre-mix.
2. Add the flavors that you will be adding to the pre-mix in the same "Manage Ingredient" window but define them as a flavor ingredient (flavor radio button).
3. Exit the "Manage Ingredient" window and create a new recipe and provide it with a name.
4. Specify the amount of mix you want to create "Amount to make".
5. Make your "Target nicotine" the same MG level as your pre-mix.
6. Add the other flavor ingredients to add to the recipe by clicking the "Add ingredient" button. And specify the % of the flavor that you want to add.

That's it. The recipe should tell you how much of your pre-mix to add and how much of the other flavor ingredients to add. It will also tell you the resulting nicotine level (you are diluting you nicotine by adding other ingredients) and it will tell you your resulting PG/VG level.
You may see 1 or more warning messages.
One warning will be "Unable to add enough nicotine for desired level". You can ignore this because you know you are diluting the nicotine level by added additional flavors.
Another warning might be "Unable to add enough VG for desired level". You can ignore this message also, you are only adding your pre-mix and other flavors.

Hmm... I might better wait till I'm a bit more experienced with mixing; for one thing, some of the e-juices I mix, I don't actually know the PG/VG proportion, as some vendors don't specify it -- so at the moment, I'm pretty much completely ignoring that aspect. What I'm mainly doing is mixing flavors that I think would be good togther, but can't seem to find as pre-made e-juice; also, I have one which is 18mg, twice or 3 times stronger than I need, so I'm having to add a lot of 6mg to it to bring it down to an 8mg-9mg level that I can tolerate without getting sick. I guess I'll just keep doing it manually, until I get enough experience with this to start mixing all the base components from scratch. But I appreciate the tips; I just don't think my level of knowledge/experience is quite up to it, at the moment. As Harry Callahan once said... "a man's got to know his limitations." Goes for a woman too, I'm certain! :D

Thx!
