 Does an 80 pg 20 vg mix make a big difference in taste when compared to a 50/50 mix? I bought a bunch of flavours not realizing it was 50/50 mix along with a few new set ups like Vivi Nova Mini, Stardust Clearomizers, tanks. Now I can't figure out why I am getting hardly any flavour and mainly a smokey burnt taste out of all of them no matter what flavour I try. I've read many reviews on this companies flavours and everyone seems to rave about them so I must be doing something wrong. I love the 80/20 juices from Volcano especially Choconilla Haze. These new ones just don't seem to be a clean defined taste to them at all like Volcano's and the extra vg really seems to bother me.
I have more juice coming and found out (after it was shipped) that it also has more vg in it so I am afraid I'm not going to be able to use any of these juices. So far, my wallet hasn't felt the benefits of quitting smoking 2 weeks ago. lol I've bought so many things and just seem to like one set up-Volcano Inferno with Tube Tank and Choconilla Haze. I do like Red Hot Lava and RY4 from there as well.
Anyway, if the mix is the problem is there anything I can do to make them more to my liking? Also, could I be doing something wrong breaking in these new contraptions such as the Vivi Nova?

the biggest issue you will see is wicking in your nova with the heavier VG mixture...the smokey burnt taste is probably your wick burning because it is not wicking well with heavier VG mixtures...as far as taste, it would be less sweet with higher PG, and give slightly stronger flavor as PG takes flavors better.....try a few different mixes, i've found my preference to be 70/30, and everyone seems to have a different ratio they prefer.

To test to see if its a wicking problem try Dripping onto the atty; see if you get the flavor and less burnt flavor that way. Also your nova comes with 3 different heads a 1.8, a 2.4 and a 3 ohm and the 2.4 comes pre-installed. Have you switched the heads in your tank yet? You might have a burn head?

Good news is you can add PG to your juices that you just got; the bad news is it's going to change the flavor of the juice in doing so making it different then what others experience.

the heads hardly ever burn out though :\ it would be the wick that burned, which is easily replaced...the only reason you should change a head is if the rubber seal on the head that seperates the positive and negative wires becomes compromised....also the stock wick shouldn't burn so easily as it's made of silica, so if the juice goes into the coil and becomes absorbed and the taste improves, chances are he needs to change his wick, if the juice does not absorb, then he's having wicking issues.

Dregun, If I buy some pg liquid to add to the 70/30 mix and also to the 50/50 mixed juices how do I know how much to put in? Also, one lot I bought has too low of a nicotine level. If I buy the nic liquid how do I know how much to put in that as well? Is there a page that talks about mixing?

Worked in and around Lac La Biche about 30+ yrs ago. If you add PG to your juice the nicotine level will go down. PG enhances the flavor while VG mutes the flavor. I would add a few drops of distilled water or PGA. Here's a reputable Cdn Vendor just outside of Calgary:
JUGHEADS.co We've Got the Vapors !
His juices are highly regarded here at ECF and if you like RY4 you'll prolly enjoy:
Classic JokeSmoke Tobacco ADV 4Life :) | Jugheads
Here's his ECF thread where you can read up on his juices:

After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and request a Cdn Vendors List via pm:

Best of Luck.

That's odd. I responded to this last night but it doesn't show now. Anyway, thanks very much Vapoor eyes! I actually contacted Jughead after your post and he was so helpful. He's putting together a sample pack for me.:) Oh, I forgot you mentioned the RY4/Jokesmoke. I did like that flavour too but forgot to mention that to him.

Is there a difference between PG and PGA?

Regarding the work up in Lac La Biche, I worked up north for a few years too. North of Fort McMurray at various camps.

Thanks again! :)

Is there a difference between PG and PGA?

PGA=pure grain alcohol...150 proof (75%) vodka.
PG=Propylene glycol. does not create a lot of vapor but is a good flavor carrier
VG= vegetable glycerin. creates loads of vapor but doesn't carry flavor as well as

I like the vapor so tend to have higher VG mixes (30/70vg) but sometimes I don't get the right taste on my vivi. However, I've been reading with interest the thread on using cotton wicks (essentially a cotton ball, or cheese cloth, etc) and as soon as my 32 ga kanthal arrives, I'll be making up some new wicks with some organic cotton balls I have.
