after a bit of research, was directed to this forum... I can see just browsing how incredible the amount of wealth and knowledge is on here... I've been smoking (and still am) for 14 years, and really it's time... I think I'm a little more motivated now with my first child on the way, and obviously health wise I'd love to "feel" better.

The longest time I've gone without smoking is 8 months where I quit cold turkey and that was OK. But I realized it just takes one cigarette to start again

My main question is, where do I even begin?! I didn't realize the huge market now for these products and the varieties etc... being in Canada am I restricted to certain products? from the few websites I visited they don't even ship to Canada. I see that the 510 model is the most popular for "beginners"? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Fit!

I responded to you at the "other" place. :)

Once you get a few posts under your belt, join us in the Canadian subforums. You can find all the retailers and info you need (as well as a crazy bunch of helpful folks!).

I was a bit confused when you posted there and mentioned the "other" place, but I get it now

ya, I immediately did a search for "Canada" when I got onto this forum and found that sub-forum and realized I needed the post count.. I am a bit apprehensive in purchasing these without actually seeing/feeling/trying something, but I think after reading more testimonials and reviews etc that are non-biased I can feel a bit more comfortable...

Welcome Fitdiculous!

Yup, lots of information but basically everyone start with either a 510 or a KR808D-1, browse through the ECF Library thread and make a choice. Both are very good, there's no wrong choice, just make sure they are manual and not automatic.

any particular reason why you would recommend manual over automatic?

Automatic puts preset limits on usage. It also has a hole in the connector used for airflow and also allows liquid to get into the battery which can kill a battery.

Manual has no hole and no limits.

As recommended, you should visit the ECF Library, and then head over to the social groups and check out ECF Library Annex.

Have fun reading---just don't forget to come up for air now and then.:)
