i post here because i like you guys, and gals, the mostest. i just got my new canon s95! im loving the capabilities of this little thing. f2 aperture, manual focus, manual zoom (not that great), manual aperture, manual iso, and manual shutter speed. its only a 3.8 zoom, and its only a 10 mega pixel, but its got a better sensor for image quality so you dont need the larger megapixel.
anyway.

Hey pwrstrk, I'm a bit of a camera buff too and that canon s95 is indeed a fine unit. 10 megapix is all you'll ever need unless you are going to enlarge photo's to a billboard size and with all the nice, manual features I think this will be a camera you'll enjoy for a long time.

Its kind of funny in a way, but the huge cameras we used to enjoy lugging around are disappearing and the future is in cameras that will fit in a persons shirt pocket. Digital cameras are wonderful because a person can take so many pictures while chasing that "great picture" and just delete the bad ones.

To me the sign of a really good camera is how much it gets used and I think we'll be seeing a lot of fine pictures from you and your Canon.

Happy vaping!

Nice picture! I love Canon cameras. I have a Canon Powershot SD1000. I bought it a few years ago and it still takes excellent pictures. I thought about upgrading so have more megapixels (like yours, this model has 10), but decided it wasn't worth it.

Your right vaporgalinfla, its not worth it. And really, its not the number of mega-pixels that's important although it is usually used as an advertising gimmick. The important thing is the sensor in the digital camera. The better the sensor, the better your photographs will be. And Canon IMO has the best sensors.

I didn't know that! When I bought my Canon, I based my decision on all the excellent reviews on CNet, ZDNet, etc. At the time, I was selling designer shoes, purses, and clothing on eBay. My old camera was horrible for close-up shots. The Canon works great for close-ups and the pictures pick up every tiny detail.

The Canon EOS 7D that AC2DC is referring is a very fine camera for serious photographers and semi-professionals. This camera is 18.0 Megapixel and has a APS-C size CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors. This thing is really something special and is capable of producing photographs that would blow your mind. In the right hands it gives you photo's that look more real than ... real!

Everything seems to get smaller and better and it won't surprise me if one day we have cameras equal to the 7D that will fit in our shirt pockets. Until then, those of us who make an effort to take good photographs with less expensive cameras can still have good quality in a small package.

AC2DC, ECF has a place called "My Albums" under the "Community" section at the top of the page. It would be nice if you would share some of your work with us. There's a lot of us here that would enjoy seeing what you've captured with your camera.

I had a Canon which was stolen last year and I LOVED that camera. It was the Canon Powershot A1100 IS and man was that thing bad (in a good way). My boyfriend offered to buy me another one but he ended up purchasing a Nikon CoolPix S4000 with 12 Megapixels. I love the Nikon as well since it has the touch screen BUT I loved the Canon even more.
