Ahh cheers Para, that is just about perfect. I can shave off the extra no problem and have it as tight as I want. Mjmetz was concerned about cutting it down, not me. Mj, if you cut it about where you want with a hacksaw, you can chuck the small end of the adapter in a drill and finish with a file and some sandpaper quite quickly.

That's my "lathe" and how I got it straight and smooth....works really well. Post pics when you make the conversion. I think it will add to an already great looking mod. Glad I could help

State of Confusion
Thanks guys, that helped a lot. The finishing touches are my weak point, having never worked as a craftsman some of those methods just don't occur to me without some prodding. I'm rehabbing a wood mod and I'm going to give this a try for the catch cup replacement.

Retrofitting has its small victories that can be cherished. I succeeded in getting the old glued in chipped delrin catch cup out without damaging the box or its finish. a task I was certainly not equal to a few short months ago, so I'm pretty pleased with myself. As this new catch cup is going to be brass, I am wondering whether a shine and some clear coat before installation is the way to go.
