Hey guys. I just purchased a dna 30 aluminum box mod. I am using the kangertech aerotank with the new sub ohm coil they came out with. I was wondering what watts to run it at. I was told to run it at 17.5 watts. But I am getting a burnt taste with this. Anything lower and the resistance indicator is flashing. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I haven't used the new sub-ohm coil personally, but I have had 2 people (1 of which is a shop owner/customer complaints) tell me they taste burnt no matter what you do...take that for what its worth bro.

The box you have is more geared to RBAs and RTAs (rebuildables) and lower ohm builds...thats really the only way to use the watts you have paid for.
My advice to you is to #1 learn to rebuild the kanger coil with cotton wick at around 1.1 or 1.2 ohms and you can run it around 14watts(4.09V) or 15 watts with no burnt taste and nice warm vape IMO or #2 buy yourself a dripper ,wire and organic cotton...wrap yourself a coil around .6 and hit it with the 30W(4.24V) you paid for!!
I just got my IPV 50W and with a .32 @ 50 watts (4Volts) its amazing! As you can see its all relative to staying around 3.7 to 4.2 volts to avoid the burnt taste in a pre-made coil.
Hope this helps

You have discovered one of the problems with the DNA. It has no circuitry to produce voltage lower than the battery. the SX350 board and the SX330 v3 (the 100 watt version) both will produce lower voltages.

That being said it should be OK at 17.5 watts since that is about what it would be on a mechanical. Have you tried another coil to be sure the one you have is not defective.

If you are still getting a burnt taste try it with a higher ohm coil. That will allow you to use lower power.
