Hey All.
Am new to vaping and Im sure this gets asked all the time but here it goes.
I started out a few weeks ago with a Kangertech evod mega, but quickly moved on to the kbox mini with sub tank started kit.

I started using the occ 1.5 coil that came with the kit as I have heard that sub ohm coils tend to drink e juice. I found that I was getting through about 3 ml of liquid a day (no complaints) after a wile I noticed that the OCC coil was beginning to have a burnt flavour so I switched to the RBA.

I fitted the RBA with an 8 wrap, 28 gage, coil which come out at 1.4 ohms.
I run it at around 15 watts - 4.6 volts.

I previously ran the 1.5 ohms OCC coil at 20 watts - 5.6 volts.

I have found that even though the RBA has the same ish resistance and is running at a lower power it seems to get through twice as much liquid.

i vape about the same as i did before changing coils and am using the same liquid.

Can anyone shed light on why the RBA seems to use more liquid and give any suggestions, (other then lowering the wattage) on how to reduce my e juice consumption with the RBA coil.

Thanks in advance.

Grimwald's question is valid. Reason I say that is for the longest time I used a tank and thought the vapor output was immense. Then recently switched to RDA's and from what I can tell, the vapor output is much more dense and I seem to be consuming more liquid. What I'm trying to say is I "think" the RDA's are creating thicker clouds and thus using more liquid. I could be wrong though.

Don't quote me ob this.

The RBA has a lot more airflow than the 1.5 ohm coil and you are probably evolving fron mouth to lung vaping to more of a Lung hit.

I bet you are taking mych deeper drags on the rba.

I don't have the answer to your question as I've used nothing but the RBA with my Toptank, but I just wanted to comment that it is probably a good idea to lower your nicotine level accordingly if you keep going through more juice

I would tend to agree with @Two_Bears. The 1.5ohm coil heads do have a fairly restricted airflow built into them; the holes on the stem are smaller than those on the lower resistance coil heads or the RBA deck.

There are also other factors at play here. What is the inner diameter of your coil? Depending on the build, certain coils will give off more vapor at the same or even lower power as another coil at the same/similar resistance.

Basically, it's not that surprising that this is happening and while IMO the above are fair guesses, it could be a number of factors, or more likely some combination thereof.

Any time you use a dripper you use more juice, just the nature of the beast and the cost of better flavor.
For the builds you seem to like, I'd suggest something in the Kayfun line for an RTA, they do have a tight draw, but are flavor machines and usually misers on juice consumption. But you wont be doing lung hits and blowing clouds with them.

Thank you all for your suggestions and answers.
I get more vapour now and much better flavour, IMO. I will take a look at RDA's and RTA's. I've also switched to a vertical coil set up running at 11 watts to see if that make any difference

A verticals coil will deffinately lower the airflow and Juice consumption over a horizontal coil.

I use RTAs Rebuildable exclusively. I hate RDAs becausw of tge dripping and burning wick when the wick gets Dry.

If you like a Lung hit look at tge Goblin Mini, Silverplay Nano. Kayfun Monster V3.

I was able to take Lung hits (although a bit restrictive) on an Orchid V3.

I would recommend building at 1.0-1.5 ohms. Sub ohming uses more Juice
