Here's my question. If I buy 3mg nic base at 70/30 vg pg, then if I were to vape just that... then it would be like vaping 3mg right? So if I then add 20% flavoring, I would then be vaping 2.4 mg ejuice... correct?

That is the easiest option for mixing my ejuice then. Extract 80% nice base as stated and then add 20% or some variation of flavoring. If I'm adding 15% flavoring then 85% nic base?

Since that appears to be the easiest way; what would be the next level up in difficulty.

Also, since I'm interested in only buying the best products, which company provides the nic base that I can be assured will provide the highest quality ingredients.

Thanks!

Yes, you can easilly just buy premixed nicbase in your preffered ratio and nic-level and just use that with some added flavor, and you're right in the math examples you gave about dilluted nic percentages...

I and many others started in that way because it was so easy and convenient.

The reason many of us moved on(or started with) buying seperate ingredients(pg, vg and nic) and mixed them ourselves, is both because it's much more versatile and also quite a bit cheaper, especially if buying in bulk.

Imagine you bought e.g. a liter of a premixed base in 50/50 pg/vg ratio and 12mg nic. In the beginning that's fine, but chances are that you down the road want to adjust either your pg/vg ratios and/or your nic percentages.

After I had a couple of liter bottles just used a little, in different ratios and potencies, then I decided to just make my own and never get stuck with bases you've "grown out off" and never use, plus the saved cost and full versatility...

About best nic providers, then it's a matter of if you want an invisibe nic as possible for not interferring with your flavoring, or if you also want some taste or bite from the nic itself.

Most probably fall in the invisible nic chasing catagory and so i'm guessing you're too, and in that case, then I would recommend chemnovatic nic(from e.g. vapers tek), which to me is very very clean tasting.

I haven't tried it myself, but nude-nic gets a very good rep. for beeing very clean also, and I believe it came out as the cleanest tasting in the latest tasting test among some ecf testers here recently.

Another one that looks very promising, but also very expensive, is this here: Carolina Xtraction Technologies Corp CXTC

Planes, I started DIY in that same way. I would just buy the nic base in my preferred PG/VG ratio from E Cig Express, then buy some of their flavors to try. This is a great way to get your feet wet with DIY without having so many things to remember. Like mhertz, I eventually starting buying everything separately because it is a lot cheaper.

Thanks! Getting excited about this. Really opens up the door to variety without the wallet hit.

Thanks for the informative reply. Your spot on in your assumptions. I'd rather get my feet wet and see if DIY will satisfy my e-liquid needs and if so, I can expend from there.

What sources do you use for flavorings and recipes.(Or do you have your own.)

Doing what you said in your First Post is a Great Way to start at DIY. Just Add Flavor, Shake, Let sit for 2 ~ 3 Days, and then Vape. What could be Simpler?

But I'll let you in on a Little Secrete.

It Isn't just people who are New to DIY who Do This. Many people who have done DIY for a Long Time buy Nicotine Base at the Basic Nicotine Level and PG:VG Ratio they way want to Use. And then just Add Flavoring/Sweetener.

And Many who Buy Higher Nicotine Base like 100mg/ml will make a Diluted batch of "Pre-Mix" just like what you are Buying at 3mg/ml ready made.

I mean, If you Nicotine Level and PG:VG ratio isn't changing, why would I want to Mix Everything from Scratch Every Time I make a Flavored e-Liquid.

BTW - Here is a Tip. Every Time you buy Nicotine Base, you should Taste Test it BEFORE you do any Recipes with it. If your Nicotine Base is at a Vapable Nicotine Level, just put a Little into a Tank or Dripper and give it a Taste. It Shouldn't have a Ton of Taste. And it Should Taste Clean.

If you are Buying a Higher Level mg/ml than what you Normally Vape, then you should Dilute it down with PG or VG or Both to what you use, then Taste it.

That's what I do. I generally mix up a 200-400 ml batch of "pre-mix" then use it to make up my juice as I need it. This does save a tremendous amount of time and energy.

It saves a lot of Chances of Error Also.

And whereas I am Not Afraid to work with 100mg/ml Nicotine, I respect it for what it is. So I like to Minimize the Times I have to work with it if Possible.

I think Having a Big Bottle of Pre-Mix makes sense on a Lot of Levels. And since I have moved to using Unflavored or HOF (Hint of Flavor), my 250ml Bottle of Pre-Mix has become my Final Mix most of the time.
