new dripper burnt taste?

Hey all,
So I just got my first mech mod today. This is my first upgrade since mvp 2. I got everything set up battery charged small starter coil wrapped and wicked. I don't have an ohm reader but highly doubt I'm vaping at sub ohm levels. I keep getting a burnt taste tho. I want to start dripping and vape at higher wattage but the taste of my favorite juices is unbearable. someone recommended heating could then running under water and rewicking. Tried that to no avail, any other advice?

It should go without saying... buy an Ohm meter. In the mean time, I'll calculate your build - Single coil? What wire, how many wraps on what size mandrel?

Did I mention... get an ohm meter. You've run into a situation where you don't really know what your resistance is... and you can't confirm it. For all you know, you have a dead short.

Use the mvp2 as an ohm meter for now but get an ohm meter. Make sure to get the coil glowing from the inside out.

Get an ohm meter. Don't use the dripper until you get an ohm meter. You need an ohm meter.

I hate to say it, but if you don't understand the how and why of sub-ohm vaping (building coils, ohms law, the basics of current flow, etc), you really shouldn't be attempting it. It doesn't take much to turn a mech-mod and a dripper into a pipe bomb.
